  • Carolina CAT - Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician (Night Shift)

    The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of customer equipment in a shop or field environment while maintaining an acceptable level of productivity and customer satisfaction. This role is for a night shift technician, approximate hours are: 6pm - 6am. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Promptly, at start of shift, review work schedule, check equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled, and prepare for operations Works independently with little to no supervision at times. Determine the technical or physical status using the on-board computer, service documents and reviewing product improvement and support programs. Verify findings, review readings of gauges and procedures and compare to manufactures specs. Prepare a plan to correct the problem consulting with co-workers or lead man when necessary. Order or obtain from stock or send parts to special service shop to make the appropriate tooling or alterations. Install, replace, re-build or repair the parts and/or equipment in a timely manner and according to specifications. Test the part or equipment and perform quality check after work is complete. Paint components and pressure wash parts and equipment when necessary. Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned and maintains company vehicles. At end of shift, secure all equipment and machinery, and complete all required paperwork. Works to ensure departmental compliance with all safety and contamination control guidelines. Maintains productivity at predetermined levels. Supervisory Responsibilities his position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience Must have earned a High School Diploma, or a GED Successful completion of the level three service technician development program. 6+ years in heavy equipment, engine, or electric power generation system mechanic repair. Have Knowledge of: Engine and equipment lines sold by the company. Comprehensive knowledge of the application, operation, and function of Caterpillar equipment and engines. Use and application of all Caterpillar diagnostic tools. Electrical and electronic system applications. Problem solving techniques and repair options for Caterpillar machines, engines, and components. Computer Skills Basic keyboarding skills. #CatTech1

  • Carolina CAT - Compact Equipment Tech (S CLT)

    The primary function of this position is to troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test parts/equipment on construction equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The employee uses miscellaneous resources and computers to reference parts, get information about parts & enter data into record systems. The employee uses tools to disassemble/re assemble parts or equipment; cleans parts with rags, cleaners, power washer; uses test equipment to make diagnostic checks; and controls powered equipment or tools to make repairs. The employee climbs up onto, under, & into vehicles to gain access to all parts of vehicle. The employee uses overhead hoists, lift devices, forklifts & other aides to move items off vehicle (tracks, idler wheels, blades, etc.) & then to move parts to locations for disassembly, repair, then back to the vehicle for reassembly. The employee will do inspections, do preventative maintenance, change oil, replace filters, belts, coolants, hoses, may drain/clean/refill fuel systems. The employee will use welders to weld frames, wear strips then use power grinders to grind welds smooth. The employee will lift/carry and position ram used to remove idlers, unbolt idlers, remove them with overhead crane. The employee uses power washers & spray paint equipment to clean & paint vehicle. The employee will use instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience High school diploma/certificate or equivalent. 3-5 years of related experience. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the local language, reads and comprehends technical data/service manuals and writes legibly. Ability to lift a minimum of 70 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, perform repetitive bending tasks and achieve required torque specifications per manufacturer's repair procedures.
