Summary:
Provides safe and timely transport of medical crew and patients. Work may involve routine transport or may be performed under stressful situations requiring quick transport.
Responsibilities:
1. Communicates with crew and other emergency personnel over UHF and VHF radios, pagers, and cellular phones regarding location, patient status, and other relevant information. Utilizes the ground operator's communication book daily.
2. Completes all preventative maintenance. Ensures adequate fuel in vehicles performs daily checks of vehicles and maintains cleanliness of ambulances. Maintains familiarity with vehicle safety manuals.
3. Completes logs, checklists and reports related to activities, vehicle status and maintenance. Ensures continuity of service by participating in shift change debriefings.
4. Ensures that equipment is in a state of mission readiness. Corrects or arranges for repair of any malfunctioning equipment.
5. Maintains awareness of road conditions and entire response area, sharing knowledge of changing conditions with co‐workers.

UNCFP Infectious Diseases Clinic at Eastowne is seeking an LPN to join our tight knit clinic family! We specialize in many infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, tuberculosis, MRSA, sexually transmitted diseases, recurrent UTI's and more! We follow necessary precautions to keep our staff and patients safe. In our clinic you will maintain all your skills with vaccine and medication administration, phlebotomy, simple wound care, nebulizer treatments, EKG's and more! Our clinic is located in the UNC Eastowne Medical Office Building and is easy to access near the intersection of 15-501 and Interstate 40. Employees have free and convenient parking in our parking deck located across from the building.
This position qualifies for a $5000 commitment incentive paid over 3 years.

Summary:
Provides direct patient care, meeting both psychological and physical needs in accordance with the plan of care, physician's orders, and nursing and department policies and procedures. Patients range in age from neonate to geriatric. Care may be provided in an inpatient setting, ambulatory care, home health, or hospice.
Responsibilities:
1. Contributes to the development and maintenance of a current, individualized, goal-oriented plan of care and consults with other health professionals to assure that the assessed needs of patient/caregiver are met.
2. Observes, assesses, documents, and reports patient response to treatments/therapies and teaching, and adjusts priorities of care according to patient/caregiver needs. Collects, documents, and reports (to responsible MD or RN) data regarding patient's biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs.
3. Participates in unit, service, and/or department enrichment activities which contribute to positive outcomes such as assigned committees, CQI activities/groups, and the orientation and education of other personnel.
4. Provides a broad range of treatments/therapies to patients including, but not limited to, respiratory treatments, Oral/NG/NT suctioning, and tracheostomy care, administration of medications, observation of cardiac monitors, respirators, etc. and reporting of any changes, assistance to physician with special procedures, monitoring of intravenous infusions, performs point of care testing, performs routine laboratory work, changing/irrigating catheters, specialized sterile dressings, and patient/caregiver teaching based upon the established teaching plan.
5. Provides assistance to patients and families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic experience, and discharge.
6. Provides support to patients and families. Verbally de-escalates frightened or potentially aggressive patients. Facilitates age appropriate coping strategies for patients.

Executes, revises and evaluates the ECU Health Medical Center Nursing Professional Practice Model and Model of Care. Minimum Requirements
Associated Degree Nursing (ADN) Required - or higher.
Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) Preferred
Registered Nurse or temporary North Carolina licensure or status as defined in job description.
Current American Heart Association BLS required.
Clinical experience as part of education.
Meets all the other criteria/requirements as defined by EastCare Policy and Procedure.
AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NRP, and a trauma certification must be obtained before the end of orientation.
Must obtain your EMT within one year from the end of your orientation. One specialty certification for example, CFRN must be obtained within 2 years of hire is required.
3 years of experience OR 4,000 hours as a RN is required from an ICU or ER setting. Experience as an EastCare Flight Paramedic per department policy may qualify as applicable years of experience.
The ability to treat patients under EastCare protocols is determined by the EastCare Medical Director.
All employees who were employed as a Flight Nurse and weigh no more than 250 pounds before January 1, 2019, are considered grandfathered in terms of weight requirements, and therefore competent to perform their duties and responsibilities.
Any grandfathered employee who vacates their position and later seeks rehire as a Flight Nurse must meet the minimum position requirements existing at the time of rehire.
Children's Transport Team Flight Nurses must meet the following requirements:
AHA PALS, NRP must be obtained before the end of orientation. EMT within one year from the end of orientation.
One specialty certification in neonatal/pediatric field (for example C-NPT) obtained within 2 years of hire. 3 years of experience as a RN with some experience in neonatal, pediatric, or critical care field.
Maintain a maximum weight limit of 250 pounds or less. The Flight Nurse hired prior to January 1, 2019 may maintain a maximum weight limit of 250 pounds or less.
Pay Range
Pay Range for Flight Nurse: $41.00 - $56.38
Other Information
Position: 1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week
Shift: .9 fte - (3) 12 hour shifts 0600-1800 and 1800-0600 rotating
