Summary:
Demonstrates expert knowledge in a variety of functions requiring considerable anatomic and physiologic understanding, advanced 2D and 3D digital imaging operations, excellent patient care, strict adherence to sterile technique, and patient monitoring. Provides diagnostic and interventional oncology, cardiothoracic, neuro, abdominal, vascular and vascular surgery, pediatrics, musculoskeletal procedural imaging, as well as endovascular cardiothoracic aortic repair with the utilization of moderate sedation or general anesthesia. Vascular Interventional staff are vital team members of the surgical oncology, IA Stroke, Aortic Code Team, and Trauma services, and share responsibility of Pulmonary Embolus Response Team (PERT) and Trans-Arterial Valve Repair (TAVR) with Cardiac Services.
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday; 7:30am - 6:00pm. Call requirements- 2 weekday nights per 6 weeks (Monday-Thursday), 6 weekends a year. Both can vary based on departmental needs.
Responsibilities:
1. Documentation Schedules patient for hospital transportation. Coordinates with general anesthesia, med/surg teams, inpatient chemo pharmacy, and intensive care units to minimize patient delays. Creates procedural order, if necessary. Confirms patient identity and that correct procedural consent has been obtained. Knows acceptable lab values and procedure contraindications and shares information with attending physician if a variance is identified. Maintains room procedure sheet for documentation of procedure performed and all supplies used during the course of the procedure. Inputs necessary procedural information (biopsy passes, intravascular pressure measurements, lines, drains, mechanical thrombectomy attempts), fluoroscopy time and dose measurement, and amount of sedation and intravenous contrast used. 2. Equipment Operation: Provides high quality multi-modality imaging support during interventional procedures using fluoroscopic, ultrasound, and computed tomography equipment. Demonstrates understanding of specialized imaging techniques to achieve optimum results in patients with compromised cardiothoracic output or evidence of malignancies that impede ideal circumstances forprocedural imaging. Performs portable interventional procedures requiring use of ultrasound equipment. Supports other clinical partners, including but not limited to operating room radiologic technologists and cardiac cath specialists during intra-operative cases in which they require the use of interventional radiology equipment and inventory. Performs image post-processing and quality assurance of images. Performs systems checks and quality control testing on equipment to determine functionality. Cleans radiographic equipment and procedural suites. 3.. Patient Care: Describes exam to patient, positions patient on procedural table and assists with hemodynamic monitoring. Alerts physician and nursing staff if a change in patient condition is noted. Prepares patient for procedure using sterile technique. Assists interventional proceduralist as first assist by offering sterile back table and intraprocedural supply management. Assists in administration and documentation of regulated pharmaceuticals (intravenous contrast, heparin analogues). Practices optimum radiation protection for patient and staff in the procedure room. Aides in application of post procedural dressings. Ensures that all anatomic or foreign body specimens are properly identified and delivered to the appropriate collection site.

Set Up: Stages interventional suite for upcoming procedure by preparing sterile trays and accessories, preparing imaging and interventional equipment for operation, entering patient information into all imaging systems, and obtaining pertinent diagnostic information such as prior diagnostic imaging, medical records and lab results, and using quality sterile technique to prepare both the patient and the equipment. Supply Management: Complies with departmental and room supply strategies by determining what items are needed as well as anticipating patient needs and providing alternative items the proceduralist may require, and re-stock area appropriately. Makes lists and notifies Inventory Supervisor of supply needs. Performs required procedure for the collection, cleaning, storage, packaging and distribution of any and all tools/supplies to be sterilized. Documents all supplies used during each procedure, as well as patient charge information for billing purposes. Assists supervisor or designee in documentation of essential employee file records. Maintains room procedure sheet for documentation of procedure performed and all supplies used during the course of the procedure, as well as any other applicable information relating to the actual procedure.
2. Equipment Operation Provides radiographic support during operating room procedures using state of the art mobile fluoroscopic equipment, positioning and appropriate technique selection. Performs portable radiographic procedures requiring use of standard portable radiographic equipment operation and appropriate technique selection. Performs image processing and quality assurance of such images evaluating them for proper anatomical part(s), alignment, radiographic techniques, image identification, and radiation protection. Performs systems checks on equipment to determine functionality. Clean radiographic equipment. Operates single plane and bi-plane digital imaging system (including mobile fluoroscopic equipment), power injector, and ultrasound equipment used for diagnostic and interventional procedures. Performs quality analysis for activated clotting times (ACT machine) and operates machine during procedures

Summary:
Conducts routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to acquire patient diagnostic data. Prepares for and assists the radiologist in completion of intricate radiographic procedures including preparation and administration of contrast media and medications in accordance with state and federal regulations. Performs patient assessments and
provides patient care. Evaluates the appropriateness of examination and assesses the quality of radiographic images.
Monday - Friday; 12:30pm-9:00pm. This is an OR tech position with responsibilities in the operating room.
Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology, is familiar with and adheres to Departmental Protocols and Policy and Procedures of UNC Healthcare System, obtains RT(R) credentials and maintains Active Status using technical knowledge and ability to assist in actively troubleshooting work unit problems with respect to equipment and protocols.
2. Ensures that patient demographic, emulsion markers, and examination requested are correct, critiques, orients and saves all pertinent images, transmits QA-ed images to PACS, ensures that all images reach PACS, documents completion and/or cancellation of all procedures in RIS, documenting comments when appropriate, maintains image management equipment, reporting any equipment problem to appropriate resources, utilizes PACS and HIS system for obtaining additional study data.
3. Conducts routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to acquire patient diagnostic data.
4. Performs work in a timely manner, performs quality radiographic images on a consistent and on-going basis, analyzes request and draws appropriate conclusions for examination and action plan, reviews radiographic orders and images and correlates patient demographic information, ensuring accuracy of information, reviews daily schedule and/or status of patients waiting in department for examinations, maintains a clean and safe work environment, documents incidents and advises area supervisor of improvement opportunities for the work unit.
5. Uses RIS,CIS,PACS and SMS effectively and appropriately to access information and document status of procedures, modifies all necessary orders for appropriateness, completes exam in RIS System, QC's and transmits information to PACS, verifies that all information has arrive properly into PACS.
6. Verifies patient identity, obtains patient history relevant to examination order, verifies pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation, assesses patients physical condition and develops an action plan for performing examination, assesses patients condition to determine if additionally medical personnel and or equipment is needed and takes appropriate action, assists patients that require extra attention, reacts to emergency situations, insures patient safety.

● Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program. If degree is not yet complete, candidates may be selected contingent on completing a degree program within 90 days of hire.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Join our multidisciplinary care team staffed with physicians, APPs, RNs, CMAs and MOAs. Clinics are open 8am-8pm, 7 days a week and offer x-ray services only. Clinics are staffed with 1 rad tech per 12-hour shift (Number of X-Ray varies by shift). Rad Techs are cross trained to register patients, complete point of care testing and other clinical tasks

Responsibilities:
PREPARES PATIENT FOR PROCEDURE: a. Identifies patient using two identifiers and two sources. b. Documents pregnancy according to procedure. c. Identifies common clinical indications for imaging studies and notes discrepancies. d. Correctly documents and maintains patient care records-ensures order is correct.
PRODUCES DIAGNOSTIC QUALITY EXAMS ACCORDING TO DEPARTMENTAL COMPETENCY AND COLLEGE COMPETENCY: a. Sets technical factors, positions patient to achieve optimal images. b. Completes quality exams with efficiency and accuracy. c. Maintains competency when performing surgical Imaging exams under strict sterile procedure. d. Performs quality diagnostic exams with portable machine in ER, and floor units. e. Recognizes limitations of knowledge for student radiographer; avoids repeat or unnecessary errors.
MAINTAINS THE SAFETY INCLUDING RADIATION SAFETY OF THE PATIENT AND THE TECHNOLOGIST a. Properly shields patient. b. Minimizes repeats. c. Demonstrates compliance with ALARA principles. d. Demonstrates understanding and compliance with NPSG's; maintains the safety integrity per room assignment. e. This position will be 12 hour shifts and every other weekend.
Summary:
Conducts
routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to acquire patient
diagnostic data. Prepares for and
assists the radiologist in completion of intricate radiographic procedures
including preparation and administration of contrast media and medications in
accordance with state and federal regulations. Performs patient assessments and
provides patient care. Evaluates the appropriateness of examination and
assesses the quality of radiographic images.
Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology, is familiar with and adheres to Departmental Protocols and Policy and Procedures of UNC Healthcare System, obtains RT(R) credentials and maintains Active Status using technical knowledge and ability to assist in actively troubleshooting work unit problems with respect to equipment and protocols.
2. Ensures that patient demographic, emulsion markers, and examination requested are correct, critiques, orients and saves all pertinent images, transmits QA-ed images to PACS, ensures that all images reach PACS, documents completion and/or cancellation of all procedures in RIS, documenting comments when appropriate, maintains image management equipment, reporting any equipment problem to appropriate resources, utilizes PACS and HIS system for obtaining additional study data.
3. Conducts routine procedures and tests using radiology equipment to acquire patient diagnostic data.
4. Performs work in a timely manner, performs quality radiographic images on a consistent and on-going basis, analyzes request and draws appropriate conclusions for examination and action plan, reviews radiographic orders and images and correlates patient demographic information, ensuring accuracy of information, reviews daily schedule and/or status of patients waiting in department for examinations, maintains a clean and safe work environment, documents incidents and advises area supervisor of improvement opportunities for the work unit.
5. Uses RIS,CIS,PACS and SMS effectively and appropriately to access information and document status of procedures, modifies all necessary orders for appropriateness, completes exam in RIS System, QC's and transmits information to PACS, verifies that all information has arrive properly into PACS.
6. Verifies patient identity, obtains patient history relevant to examination order, verifies pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation, assesses patients physical condition and develops an action plan for performing examination, assesses patients condition to determine if additionally medical personnel and or equipment is needed and takes appropriate action, assists patients that require extra attention, reacts to emergency situations, insures patient safety.

The Special Procedures Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures for the application of prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological assessment, diagnosis and therapy. Works under the direction of a radiologist. Assists physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, and others to capture images of blood vessels and treat organ-system diseases.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs diagnostic, special and radiographic procedures.
2. Assists in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording hemodynamic parameters in accordance to policy and procedure.
3. Prepares patient for exams. Confirms that pertinent forms (i.e., consents) are complete for procedures.
4. Administers contrast media according to provider orders. Demonstrates knowledge of IV therapy techniques (i.e., verifies type, concentration, amount and expiration date).
5. Operates all equipment/devices as appropriate including but not limited to radiology equipment and related to the transfer of images to the PACS system, checking image quality and proper identification.
6. Positions patient on examination table and adjusts immobilization devices as required to obtain optimum views of specified area of the body requested by physician.
7. Takes appropriate precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patient.
8. Ensures documentation is complete and accurate in all systems. Monitors and records all procedural data.
9. Performs QC tech functions as requested.
10. Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating quality management programs for Special Procedures and Diagnostic Radiology.
11. Demonstrates equipment and procedure competency during call-back procedure.
12. Maintains, cleans, and restocks assigned room and notifies supervisor of unavailable supplies.
