Videos Duties Help The Pacific West Region is recruiting for TEMPORARY seasonal positions not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. Dates of employment will vary between park sites depending on funding, weather conditions and visitation. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availability and funding. The duty stations for these positions are: North Cascades National Park: Stehekin, WA Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area: Davenport, WA Yosemite National Park: Yosemite, CA Mount Rainier National Park: Longmire, WA Duties: * Performs construction, alteration, installation, repair, and modification of items and structures such as framework, rafters, concrete forms, walls, doors, finished paneling, window frames, interior and exterior trims, staircases, trusses, beams, and other items. * Serves as an inspector on outside contracts and on work performed by less than journeyman of the trade. * Repairs doors, windows, wood substitute items, exterior siding, flooring, and interior fabric as necessary in the course of stabilization/restoration, and to ensure completeness and structural integrity. * Fabricates duplicate replacements of deteriorated wood members such as molding, beams, timbers and stairways. Physical Demands: Works at benches or while materials are on support which would require considerable standing, stooping and bending. Also works on ladders and scaffolds requiring overhead reaching and working in awkward positions. Must occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Applicants who select Yosemite National Park as a duty location will be required to be able to lift and carry 60 to 80-pound bags of concrete, this is often done alone. Working Conditions: Work is done indoors and outdoors. Some work is performed in the shop area where incumbent is exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, saw dust in the air, glue fumes, and hazards associated with woodworking and related power equipment. Incumbent is also exposed to the hazards of ladders and scaffolds and is subject to cuts, bruises, and contusions.
