    LABOR Shumaker Trucking & Excavating Contractors, Inc Great Falls, MT 59404 General Application Information: GENERAL CONSTRUCTION LABORER Classification: Non-Exempt/Seasonal Compensation: Prevailing wage or comparable Reports to: Superintendent Work Location: Montana Essential Duties: Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in construction projects. Perform trade for long hours, day after day, often in adverse conditions, to complete the project at hand. Follow project plans and instructions by the Foreman and Superintendent without direct supervision. Assist project Foreman and Superintendent on daily tasks. Perform material handling and storage. Load, unload, haul, and hoist materials. Operate air, electric, and pneumatic hand tools. Operate and care for construction equipment including machine pneumatic roller, padfoot compactor, as needed for the project. Maintain a clean job site: picking up all tools and equipment, removal of all construction debris and trash, sweeping area clean, and securing job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. Clean and maintain equipment used on the job. Take ownership of work assigned by project management staff. Comply with all safety requirements and participate in safety meetings. Review daily task assignments and clarify any material needs with supervisor. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Ready and willing to learn from on-the-job training when necessary. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Travel to outlying areas may be required and positions may occasionally be required to stay overnight. Perform other duties as directed. Job Competencies: Experience as a general laborer in the construction industry (preferred). Display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards. Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record. Class A or B CDL (preferred but not required). Must be 18 years of age. Must be willing to travel in Montana and Work Out of Town.
