REQUIREMENTS:
Must have an enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn.
Prefer a high school education or equivalent.
Prefer six (6) years experience in construction work.
Must be physically capable of lifting lumber, framing and finishing work on the job site.

Must be able to accurately read and use a tape measure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes work as assigned by Carpenter Foreman.
Uses and maintains equipment and hand tools both his own, and those assigned to the project.
Job site roll out and clean up.
Cut and handle raw lumber for use in framing.
Frame walls, lay subfloor, hang shear, and nail off shear and roofs proficiently.
Understands shear walls, including edge nailing, hold downs, and sill plate fastening.
Proficiently installs girders and floor joists, including hardware.
Able to roll joists, stack roofs, and pull basic layout for infill construction.
Thoroughly understands exterior siding, flashing, and window and door installation.
Shows proficiency with exterior trim, such as crown, soffit, corbels, etc.
Read plans proficiently, understands all shear schedules, details, cross sections, floor plans, and elevations.
Knows wall details and can productively assist in that phase of the project.
Responsible for most of the layout on a given project, including joist, wall, beam, and roof layouts.
Understands how structural steel items work in wood frame buildings: base plates, moment frames, steel shape and size awareness.
Able to handle advanced tasks requiring intense thought, including cutting complex roofs, complex stairs and intricate pick-up items.
Can accurately and efficiently plumb and line any wall frame
Can productively run one or two men on given assignments.
Able to run fascia, varge, and overhang cleanly and efficiently.
Understands the basics of roof theory: can cut and stack a simple gable roof, and simple hip roof with minimal assistance.
Reports for assigned shift in a timely manner, ready to work at the start time.
Adheres to S R Freeman, Inc. rules and regulations, and operating procedures.
Demonstrates a commitment to teamwork, as evidenced by cooperation with supervisors and co-workers.
Demonstrates a willingness to learn and grow in the job.
Demonstrates ability to productively and effectively run a small crew.
Demonstrates the ability to pass a written exam based on the required skills for this position
Demonstrates safe work habits, and always uses safety glasses, proper lifting techniques, etc.

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Rough Carpenter to join our construction team. You will be responsible for building the essential skeleton of various structures, including walls, roofs, and flooring systems, ensuring every component is level, plumb, and built to exact specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Framing: Erect the skeleton of residential or commercial buildings, including studs, floor joists, ceiling joists, and roof trusses.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and analyze architectural blueprints and CAD drawings to determine precise dimensions and material requirements.
Formwork & Foundations: Construct wooden or metal forms (molds) for pouring concrete foundations, footings, and retaining walls.
Material Preparation: Measure, mark, and cut lumber, plywood, and other materials with high precision using power and hand saws.
Installation: Set up rough window and door frames, subflooring, and sheathing before the arrival of finish trades.
Support Structures: Build and install temporary supports, including scaffolding, ramps, and platforms to ensure on-site safety and accessibility.
Quality Inspection: Regularly examine existing framework for defects, rot, or decay and perform necessary structural repairs.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: Proven experience in rough carpentry or framing; completion of an apprenticeship or vocational training is highly preferred.
Tool Proficiency: Expertise in using power tools (circular saws, nail guns, drills) and hand tools (levels, plumb bobs, squares).
Mathematics: Strong ability to perform geometric and algebraic calculations for angles, measurements, and material quantities.
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, work at heights on scaffolding, and standing/bending for long periods in varying weather conditions.
Safety Conscious: Thorough understanding of OSHA safety standards and local building codes.
