KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
· Able to complete onsite millwork, cabinet and countertop, fixture, graphic and décor installs in commercial and retail environments.
· Personnel management of various crew sizes ranging from 3-6 employees or larger projects of 8 or more employees.
· Able to receive, stage and manage large inventory of millwork and fixture parts for distribution and installation.
· Able to evaluate site conditions, construction and delivery schedules and when these factors are not aligned, clearly and effectively communicate to Project Management Team, onsite contractor or when necessary, our client.
· Able to establish and understand layouts for millwork, fixtures and other elements.

Job Title: Carpenter I (Trainee)
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Salary Grade: 5B ($14.51-$17.04-$19.58)/hr.
Constructs, repairs, and maintains St. Labre residential houses and buildings conforming to required codes and maintains equipment and tools by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities. Nothing in this job description restricts St. Labre's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
Completes given work orders and schedules accordingly. Insures work orders are completed in a timely manner, inspected and signed-off to lead carpenter and/or supervisor.
Requests supplies and materials needed for work orders and special projects.
Refinishes cabinets and counters.
Lays carpet and vinyl.
Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
Erects framework for structures and lays subflooring.
Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as locks, letterdrops, and kick plates.
Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
Assists with minor repairs on electric, and plumbing systems.
Assists other carpenters/supervisor in planning larger projects.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; and six months to one year related experience and/or training in carpentry or construction required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to use all hand tools, power tools, construction equipment, and auxiliary items.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
Mechanical aptitude.
Respects the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ in private, personal, and public life.
Commitment to the mission of the Roman Catholic Church in Native American education.
Sensitivity to, and appreciation of Native American people and their cultures.
Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for students.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Construction Technology Certificate preferred.
Valid Montana driver's license required.
