GPJ is hiring a Carpenter to join our growing team.
This role is on-site, requiring you to report to our Las Vegas location a minimum of 5 days per week.
Your Role
As a carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and installing structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and other materials. Your role encompasses a variety of tasks crucial to the construction process. This includes interpreting blueprints and adhering to construction plans to ensure projects meet specifications. You will be responsible for measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling materials according to precise requirements, as well as installing various structures like windows, doors, cabinets, and molding. Additionally, part of your duties involves inspecting and repairing damaged structures or fixtures, as well as maintaining and repairing existing woodwork. Collaboration with other tradespeople and contractors is essential for successful project completion, and adherence to safety protocols and regulations is paramount throughout all tasks undertaken.

The Junior Carpenter / Millworker supports the Production team in the fabrication and assembly of scenic, architectural, and branded elements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the fabrication and assembly of scenic structures, millwork components, and custom environments.
Support senior carpenters in preparing materials, cutting, sanding, laminating, and finishing components.
Read and interpret basic shop drawings, diagrams, and instructions with supervision.
Operate standard woodworking tools and machinery (table saws, chop saws, routers, drills, sanders, etc.) safely and efficiently.
Apply laminates, veneer, and edge banding with attention to quality and finish consistency.
Assist in constructing modular and knock-down elements designed for transport and reassembly.
Collaborate with CNC, Metal, Paint, and Graphics departments to support integrated fabrication processes.
Participate in on-site installations as needed, assisting with setup, assembly, and takedown.

Report material shortages, equipment issues, and quality concerns to the Foreman or Production Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1-2 years of experience in carpentry, millwork, scenic fabrication, or a related field (or completion of a relevant technical program).
Basic understanding of woodworking tools, materials, and construction techniques.
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship with a willingness to learn.
Ability to read and follow drawings or build instructions.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physical labor.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and reliability in a collaborative team environment.
Exposure to exhibit fabrication, scenic construction, or event/tradeshow environments.

*Establish and maintain communication with customer prior to arrival and during the installation process in a professional manner
*Upon completion of installation or service call, inspect/quality control work, and clean-up organization system and work site
*Safely operate company van and maintain the order and cleanliness of the vehicle
*Accurately complete and submit daily paperwork, including service call write-ups and any other necessary paperwork
Qualifications:
*High School diploma or equivalent
*Must have experienced carpentry skills -- ability to install cabinets, countertops, lighting, crown molding, and base trim
*Must have experience working with basic hand tools
*Must be able to regularly lift a min. of 50-75 pounds
*Good communicator with customers, providing exceptional customer satisfaction/service
*Must have excellent organizational and time-management skills
*Valid Nevada drivers license with clean driving record
*Must be available Monday - Friday, and available to work overtime, as needed
