PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN

PRIMARY DUTIES

* The Production Technician will be assigned to various positions and shifts within an operating department based on functional needs and the department based on functional needs and the department's requirements. Assignments may vary from material handling, production process support/assistant, and entry-level type work.
* Production Technicians will be required to qualify on multiple positions within a department and rotate through those positions according to operating needs. Assignments will be primary equipment operation and ownership of the process associated with that operation.
* Production Technicians are expected to foster a safe, reliable, and cost-effective production environment enabling the concepts of lean manufacturing.
* Takes personal ownership for working safely and motivates others to maintain a safe work environment. Self-motivated, comfortable working as a team player in a lean environment.
* Operates various pieces of mill equipment, mobile equipment, overhead cranes, material handling devices, chains, slings, simple hand tools, saws and cut-off devices, power actuated banding and bundling tools, etc.
* Monitors, oversees, and operates computer controlled manufacturing systems, production reporting systems, and computer/HMI systems.
* Inspects, cleans, and performs basic preventative maintenance on process equipment.
* Support the plant with overtime as required and willingness to work a rotating shift.
* Perform other duties as needed in support of the plant.

REQUIREMENTS

* High School Diploma or GED
* Experience in an industrial operations/manufacturing environment is preferable, but not required
* Selected applicants will be required to score a minimum level of 4 on the following Work Keys Assessments: Workplace Documents, Applied Math, and Graphic Literacy and score a minimum level of 60% on a basic computer literacy assessment. Material Movement Operator

PRIMARY DUTIES

* Receives verbal or written instruction from supervisor.
* Operates various types of mobile equipment to identify, locate, store and transport materials and equipment within and between plant areas. Occasionally operates mobile equipment to transport material to and from outside local areas.
* Loads and unloads trucks, buggies and furnaces using crane and/or mobile equipment. Secures loads in trucks.

* Analyze and implement strategies for improved raw material through finished goods inventory tracking, control, validation and management. Establish FY inventory goals; then develop and execute strategies to achieve these goals. Manage purchasing and inventory replenishment for raw materials, operating supplies, and finished goods based on production schedules, current inventory, customer orders, and forecasts. Insure accurate receiving and inventory records. Execute, update and distribute weekly production planning schedules for the furnace/melting operations.
* Manage the activities of the receiving, purchasing and production/inventory personnel reporting to you within the department with consideration for the goals and objectives of the department. Define and communicate performance expectations for your direct report personnel - coach and counsel them in the performance of job responsibilities.
* Act as a product stream liaison between the supply chain (i.e. Reading) and other outside functions. This will require regular communication of scheduling, manufacturing and process changes. Coordinate material process changes pertaining to consolidation and manufacturing process improvement efforts. Work closely with Manufacturing as it pertains to melt scheduling, melt scrap charges and inventory usage. Work closely with Sales in order to assure proper order fulfillment.

REQUIRED

* Extensive experience in industrial manufacturing.
* Prior knowledge in a manufacturing/industrial setting with a strong focus in supply chain operations.
* A proven record of improving forecasting, supply planning, capacity planning, inventory and production planning.
* Previous experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) systems used for manufacturing planning and scheduling, such as SAP, Oracle, APO, ACSP, i2 Factory Planner, Demantra, etc.
* Demonstrated planning and inventory improvement experience.
* Working knowledge and experience in Lean and Six Sigma methods, implementation of ERP and QMS systems, logistics and procurement processes, transportation and warehouse management.

PREFERRED

* MA / MS degree and CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
* Experience in large mill metals manufacturing strongly preferred.
* ERP and Factory Planning applications experience is also strongly preferred.
* SAP experience.

MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR - BAR FINISH

PRIMARY DUTIES

* Provide production employees with guidance, direction and supervision in support of departmental operations.
* Promptly address performance issues.
* Actively promote all company policies and expectations, especially in support of safety plans and results.
* Plan and schedule operations within assigned area of responsibility.
* Maintain a positive work environment by regularly communicating with employees on the shop floor and responding to employee issues and concerns in a timely manner.

REQUIREMENTS
