Shalmet, based in Orwigsburg, PA., specializes in coil-to-coil, coil-to-bar, bar-to-bar, and hollow bar processing of stainless, superalloys, titanium, carbon and alloy steels, aluminum and other nonferrous materials. With a second manufacturing facility in Elyria, OH, Shalmet also provides rebuilding and re-engineering of customer machines. Shalmet was acquired by Carpenter Technology Corporation in 1997 and operates within the corporation's Specialty Alloys Operations division.
1 Position available - Afternoon & Evening Shift Coverage (subject to change)
Location: Elyria, OH
Wage Range: Starting wage rate is $33.69 per hour with opportunities for advancement.
$5,000 SIGN-ON BONUS (for external hires only)
Maintenance candidates hired at Shalmet will receive $2,500 upon successful completion of 6 months of employment and an additional $2,500 upon successful completion of 9 months of employment. (Note: Maintenance trainee positions are not eligible for sign-on bonuses.)
Per Policy: Unless approved by Management, employees are limited to successfully bid on no more than 2 positions in a 12-month period. Other bidding restrictions may apply.
Primary Duties:
* To inspect, test, calibrate, repair, install, fabricate, construct, adjust, lubricate, maintain, dismantle and clean all mechanical equipment working in conjunction with other production and maintenance personnel.
* Operate mobile equipment
* Operate overhead crane and follow movement of material
* Use required tools and equipment
* Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical problems
* Do basic metal fabrication
* Do pipe fitting / plumbing
Requirements:
* A resume outlining qualifications and experience must be submitted to be considered for this position.
* Must pass testing for related trade.
* Technical trade school, or related college field preferred. Two years industrial maintenance experience required.
* High School diploma or GED required.
* Overtime, if requested, is required.
* Candidates will be expected to gain additional qualifications to progress through the various levels of their skilled trade as described in associated Position Requirements Records.
* Read, write and understand instructions

PRIMARY DUTIES
* Receive verbal or written instructions from supervisor and/or other designated plant personnel.

The MaintenanceTechnician is responsible for the repair and upkeep of equipment and facility. Activities include both planned and predictive maintenance and breakdown repair. In this role, you will work Building 17, A Team, 12 Hour Rotating DuPont Schedule.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Locate and diagnose failures, replace defective components, and perform basic troubleshooting using standard equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.
* Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as pneumatic tools, motors, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment using testing instruments, hand and power tools and precision-measuring instruments.
* Performs a wide variety of functions such as installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for generating, distributing, and utilizing electrical energy. Uses instruments to test circuits and replaces or installs new power, light, electronic and control circuits.
* Troubleshoots electrical malfunctions, inspects circuits and wiring for shielding and grounding, and tests electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
* Repairs complex electrical equipment, including motors, switches, switchboards, electrical mechanisms, automated machines, controls, panels, relays, circuit breakers, communication systems and alarms.
* Performs complex wiring assignments.
* Installs Measures, cuts, bonds, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit.
* Works from schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
* Improvises acceptable fixes to get equipment running promptly.
* Assists engineers in diagnosing problems and suggesting corrective action.
* Cleans and lubricates parts.
* Inspects completed repairs.
* Properly inspect and maintain shop equipment, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
* Prepare new machines and production equipment for operation.
* Follow a strict preventive maintenance schedule to lessen exposure to downtime related repairs and maintenance.

* Provide support to the production team to produce superior quality materials that meet/exceed client needs. This role supports the needs of manufacturing and facilities to ensure both are in top working order.
* Paint structures, perform masonry work, repair plumbing fixtures and woodwork.
* Repair, assist in repairing or oversee contracted personnel on heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
* Performs or supervises janitorial services and grounds maintenance such as landscaping, lawn care and snow removal.
Minimum Requirements:
* Trade School Certification (or Associates) in Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent journeyman's level training and experience preferred
* Minimum of 3 years experience as an Industrial Electrician Multi-craft (Electrical and Mechanical) MaintenanceTechnician preferred
* Knowledge, Understanding, & Formal Training in:

In this role, you will work at Building 19, Night Shift, 11PM-7AM, Monday-Friday.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
∙ Perform preventive maintenance on equipment from verbal instructions, work orders, and operating manuals.
∙ Troubleshoot problems and breakdowns (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic) on all equipment, processes, and facilities.
∙ Able to construct electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits and systems from drawings.
∙ Able to run electrical conduit.
∙ Repair and adjust regulating and control equipment.
∙ Inspect, clean, and maintain AC/ DC motors.
∙ Able to plan work flow to complete scheduled tasks in a safe manner within the allotted time frame.
∙ Recognize deviations from standard conditions and report to team leader.
∙ Properly document all maintenance activities.
∙ Follow training and procedures established by the quality group.
∙ Maintain good housekeeping in work area.
