As a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Engineer Intern, you'll support the design of intelligent systems that improve energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational performance in schools, hospitals, government buildings, and commercial spaces.

In this role, you'll assist with the design and documentation of building automation systems. This includes developing wiring diagrams, point layouts, control sequences, hardware selections, and integration strategies. **Key Responsibilities:**
**System Design & Development**
+ Assist in the hardware design of building automation systems, including the sizing and selection of sensors, actuators, valves, and related components.
+ Support the development and implementation of software programs for building automation systems.
+ Assist in the creation of graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for system visualization and control.
+ Participate in the testing and verification of building automation programming and interfaces prior to field implementation.
+ Ensure adherence to project specifications, internal engineering standards, and customer preferences.
**Documentation & Reporting**
+ Maintain and update as-built documentation, including drawings and system details, using Microsoft Visio, Excel, and Word.
+ Help prepare technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, test reports, and installation guides.
+ Complete required documentation in a timely and accurate manner, including timesheets, expense reports, work order postings, site documentation, and project status updates.
**Collaboration & Communication**
+ Collaborate with project teams to communicate design revisions and raise any technical concerns as they arise.
+ Coordinate daily activities and project updates with engineering supervisors and lead engineers.
+ Track and report on project progress, keeping lead project personnel informed on key milestones and deliverables.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Building Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Science
+ GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0 GPA

APTIM is currently seeking an energetic and motivated environmental engineering intern to join our team of engineers and scientists in support various project activities. The successful candidate will be a hands-on student who is dedicated to learning while completing assigned tasks with both ingenuity and pragmatism. APTIM's internship program provides students with the opportunity to acquire real-world knowledge and skills that will help focus efforts on the most appropriate field of study. Interns will be paired with experienced engineering and science staff who will provide training on specific tasks, and also mentorship on the environmental assessment, remediation, and infrastructure business. This is a Temporary position.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Work tasks will be completed in the field at active project sites and in the office.
Dedication to learning applicable regulatory rules and guidance as well as company policies and procedures.
Works on straightforward tasks using established procedures. All work will be subject to review by experienced engineering and science staff.
Under the supervision of an experienced team member, apply engineering skills and knowledge to complete assigned tasks.
Collaborate with current engineering staff in the interpretation of engineering data, conduct engineering analyses, and perform calculations and modeling utilizing appropriate software packages.
Participate in field tasks including but not limited to collection of environmental samples from various media (e.g., groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment, and gas). Assistance in implementing remedial actions designed by professional engineering staff.
Possess the ability to thoroughly and accurately summarize field data and present results to senior team members.
Basic Qualifications:
Attending an accredited educational institution pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related field.
Preference is for candidate to have completed their Junior year in college with expected graduation in 2026.
Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
Must be a self-starter, excel in time management, and work well under pressure.
Must be available to work in various settings such as in an office or remotely in the field, depending on project needs.
Ability to complete 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and wear proper personal protective equipment for work on hazardous waste sites. Lifting and physical work will be required.
Must be at least 18 years of age with a clean driving record.
Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework completed
