Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs all work according to OSHA/MSHA and H&K Safety policies
Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of paving project
Assembles members of organization (supervisory, clerical, engineering, and other workers) at start of project
Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules
Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays
Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within work force
Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods
Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules
Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports
Directs workers concerned with major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR 3 years of related experience and/or training
A combination of education and experience may be considered
Valid driver's license
Clean Driving record
Experience operating heavy equipment, especially milling machine, paving machine, roller, etc.
Effective verbal and written communication
Problem solving and priority setting skills

PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT:
The Superintendent is the field representative for FORMA Construction. Responsible for the quality, safety, and profitability of the project at the jobsite, the Superintendent is the most visible FORMA representative and they must present a positive, professional image at all times.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUPERINTENDENT:
Responsible for safety on the jobsite.
Instruct and oversee field personnel in the proper and safe use of all tools and equipment.
Hold weekly safety meetings and maintain a safe work environment.
Ensure company EEO policy and all other policies are maintained and enforced on the jobsite.
Provide phasing, schedule development, coordination, constructability, and cost feedback during preconstruction.
Review all subcontracts (provided by the PM) prior to issuance.
Create the framework and phasing of the baseline CPM schedule & perform monthly updates to the project schedule.
Provide and maintain short-term look ahead schedules to manage site activities.
Provide the jobsite with sufficient qualified field personnel.
Manage FORMA employees and subcontractors.
Efficiently buy out miscellaneous materials and make sure all materials are accounted for.
Conduct weekly Foreman's meeting to facilitate communication and efficiencies between trades.
Record the daily activities at the jobsite.
Maintain an effective QC program for both subcontractors and self-performed work.
Manage jobsite closeout, such that the customer is satisfied with the product, the project is completed on time, and the costs are minimized.
Ensure red-lined construction documents are maintained and current.
Provide technical instruction and mentoring to Project Engineers.
The Superintendent directly administers all work including labor, materials, and subcontractors at the jobsite in accordance with the project's plans, specifications, budget, and schedule; and in line with FORMA's high standards of quality control and job safety.
Experience with K-12 and public works projects and 3+ years in a similar role are a plus.

Summary:
Supervises and directs activities of workers concerned with construction of buildings or other construction projects to ensure conformance with contract documents and quality control by performing the following duties personally or with the effective organization of work through subordinate subcontractors/supervisors.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Primary responsibility for the proper scheduling of the work of crews, equipment and subcontractors to achieve maximum production in the most efficient manner. Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Set up, maintain, and close field office and ensure that the project is secure at all times;
Identify potential issues in the plans and specs (i.e. items with long lead times, etc.) and alert the Project Manager;
Demonstrates general understanding of financial implications of decision making, bumps in schedule;
Perform project start up and ensure project layout is accurate;
Assist with the development of project schedules for specific scopes of work and work to identify issues/ provide solutions;
Participate in weekly team meetings;
Verify that mock-ups match the specs and are approved before any material is installed;
Ensure work-in-place is installed per plans and specs and QC is adhered to the standards of the construction industry;
Work with PM to ensure that 3-week look-ahead is up-to-date, provide input.
Submit, monitor and update 3-week look-ahead schedule with on-site staff and subcontractors weekly;
Conduct weekly Subcontractor/ Foreman meetings;
Maintain Subcontractor Badging Program daily;

Education, Experience & Qualifications:
5+ years of construction industry experience;

Successfully completed at least two projects with a construction value over $2 million.
