The Student Success Advisor facilitates Carthage students' successful transition to the College and supports ongoing academic success and persistence through graduation. Center for Student Success staff work closely with other college personnel to holistically address the academic, personal, and social needs of students, with particular focus on supporting underrepresented/underserved student populations. Our focus is ensuring every student graduates.
The Center for Student Success uses a model of holistic advising. We support students using a data-informed, comprehensive approach which leverages the expertise, influence, and resources of campus partners to support student learning and remove barriers to students' success. This case management approach requires Student Success Advisors to build rapport quickly, to connect with campus partners, and to communicate effectively across stakeholder groups.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide high touch, developmental retention outreach and support to approximately 600-650 Carthage students.
* Collaborate with faculty advisors and career specialists to facilitate students' smooth transition.
* Provide case management to increase students' likelihood of academic and personal collegiate success.
* Prepare for and teach assigned sections of College Success Seminar for incoming students.
* Coordinate designated special project areas.
* Establish timelines and roles, develop programming, evaluate effectiveness and make recommendations for future improvement.
* Maintain timely and accurate recordkeeping of outreach and student meetings, College Success Seminar attendance, special project area data, and other data points for departmental.
* Support the Center staff in professional development.
* Position may require shared supervision of a limited number of Peer Mentors/Coaches and/or other paraprofessional staff.
Qualification Requirements:
* Master's Degree in higher education leadership, counseling, or related field.
* Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.

This position offers daytime hours that align with the school calendar, with summers off. The hours can either be Monday - Friday from 10:30 am - 3:30 pm, or Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm, depending on the candidate's preference. The position begins on August 20th and ends on May 20th each year.
Specific responsibilities:
Assist with the setup, service, and cleanup at Ruth's Marketplace, including meal plan service, dishwashing, and floor cleaning.
Communicate effectively with the Production team to support a smooth and continuous flow of food preparation, sharing timely and relevant information related to batch cooking.
Assist with product rotation, stocking, and inventory management. Maintain clean, organized coolers, freezers, and storerooms assigned to the front-of-house team.
Follow all Dining Services Policies and Procedures and assist supervisors in ensuring all staff follow safety, sanitation, HACCP, and Wisconsin Food Code guidelines.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Food service experience is a plus.

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
* Master's degree in social work, counseling, disability services, student affairs, higher education, or related field required.
* At least five years of progressive experience in disability support services, policy compliance, or related field
* 10 years of relevant leadership experience in the disability field may be substituted for the Master's degree
* Experience with and thorough understanding of various disability regulations within an educational setting
* Demonstrated experience training and educating stakeholders about disability accommodations, best practices, and compliance
* Knowledge of various assessments and diagnostic tools used to determine accommodation needs and the ability to interpret the results of the assessments is required
* Strong familiarity with applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to disabilities including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and best practices in supporting access for students with disabilities
Technology Skills:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Assistant Professor of Communication is responsible for:
Teaching 24 credits of on-campus, undergraduate courses per academic year, primarily in communication studies. Opportunities to instruct courses in online and hybrid formats may be available on a limited basis;
Supervising experiential learning for communication majors and minors;
Contributing to Lakeland's interdisciplinary studies program based on successful candidate's expertise;
Administering and/or developing coursework (assignments, projects, in-class learning activities, critiques, exams) that meets and assesses course learning objectives;
Revising and advancing the communication curriculum and assessment plan as needed;
Advising students regarding their academic and experiential learning endeavors;
Participating in student recruitment efforts;
Serving on faculty and/or institutional committees;
Participating in professional development opportunities related to one's field as well as student success strategies;
Using university technology as directed, including academic platforms such as Blackboard and SWIM to support student learning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Communication by the start of employment (ABD will be considered)

Commitment to experiential learning both in and out of the classroom

* Oversee LCS career development including:

* Provide life skills coursework and person-centered plan goal work direction and support in job-related skills (resume building, interview skills, soft skills, etc.)
* Build relationships for students with local, "hometown" DVR (or equivalent)
* Ensure that each student develops a long-range transitional plan.
* Assist students to find competitive, inclusive employment upon graduation
* Develop and implement strategies for ongoing program improvement.
* Assist in recruiting, advising, and retaining students in the program including providing informational sessions to prospective students and their families.
* Work with family members and students from inquiry to graduation and beyond to problem-solve and ensure a successful transition and educational experience.
* Assist the development of program curriculum and learning experiences.
* Develop, monitor, and update person-centered plans based on student strengths, needs, and future vision.
* Hire, lead, and evaluate program personnel including a graduate assistant and undergraduate student supports responsible for mentoring, academic coaching, job coaching, and assisting with residential and student life programming.
* Track and report progress toward program goals using a range of metrics.
* Assist with program promotion through informational sessions and meeting with potential donors as requested.
Qualifications and Skills
The program coordinator will:
* Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in special education, rehabilitation psychology, or vocational rehabilitation, or related degree; advanced degree preferred.
* Have at least 2 years relevant teaching or related experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities at the secondary or post-secondary level.
* Possess knowledge and skill relating to assessment, development of person centered and individualized course learning plans, creating accommodations and modifications, and Universal Design.
* Be committed and able to promote positive change through an inclusive learning environment.
* Possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills.
* Have the flexibility to work, daytime, evening, and weekend hours as required to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
* Have the ability to use computer software and other technology to effectively manage the program.
* Be able to travel to volunteer and/or employment sites.
