Provides mental health screenings and assessments, clinical watches, conducts treatment groups and individual sessions, as well as other clinically related activities, reporting inmates' reaction to treatment/rehabilitation program and recommendation continuation or change as needed. Utilizes electronic medical record system as applicable throughout the scope of duties and responsibilities. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provides direct supervision of site mental health staff including hiring, scheduling, assigning duties, evaluating performance, disciplining, investigating inmate grievances and discharging. 2. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) facility management officials. 3. Responds in a timely manner to requests for information or assistance. 4. Serves as a resource to the Wexford Health Corporate Director, Behavioral Health relative to non-clinical aspects of behavioral health services at NMCD facilities. 5. Participates in Regional Team meetings and teleconferences as requested. 6. Ensures the Director of Operations, Corporate Director, Behavioral Health and applicable NMCD Administrative staff are apprised of all critical mental health-related incidents or developments at assigned facilities. 7. Attends Quality Improvement meetings and is a member as assigned or requested. 8. Collects data and generate reports as required or requested. 9. Ensures clinical and facility-based orientation of newly employed MHPs. 10. Ensures MHPs have a satisfactory understanding of all applicable ACA/NCCHC standards, Wexford Health Behavioral Health protocols and Wexford and NMCD policies and procedures. 11. Reviews the medical charts of inmates on each MHP's caseload to assess the adequacy of treatment plans, progress notes and other documentation; provide remedial feedback and training as required. 12. Conducts in-service training for all MHPs regarding clinical issues of concern to Wexford and NMCD facility administrators or the MHPs themselves. 13. Provides guidance and direction to MHPs relative to Crisis Intervention Team training and leadership. 14. Assists MHPs in the development and operation of psychoeducational and psychotherapy groups. 15. Offers assistance and support to MHPs in their preparation for mental health monitoring visits, internal and external audits, and peer reviews. 16. Ensures MHPs develop and maintain effective and efficient mental health delivery record-keeping and data management systems. 17. Assists in the training of Wexford Health and NMCD non-clinical staff as requested or as necessary. 18. Conducts or participates in interviews with candidates for position vacancies. 19. Serves as the facility “on call” MHP when necessary. 20. Participates in mortality review meetings in the event of offender suicides. 21. Supports and participates in evaluation designed to improve work conditions and patient care. Evaluates employees' performance and maintains quality care. 22. Participates in, as requested, and maintains good relationship with community organizations. 23. Responds to and investigates offender grievances as requested. 24. Maintains the confidentiality of inmate records. 25. Provides clinical services, including screening, assessment, treatment planning and crisis intervention; along with individual and group therapeutic counseling as needed. 26. Performs administrative consultations for specialized social services as determined by the specific needs of the facility. JOB REQUIREMENTS LICENSING: Current New Mexico license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or other appropriate mental health professional license preferred.
