The eligible register developed from this posting may be used to fill future FT and PT vacancies within this classification.

Under general direction of the Child Support Supervisor, performs a variety of tasks related to the management of a caseload: enters data into the computer system for case initiation; interviews obligees/obligors to gather the maximum amount of information for the system; monitors child support cases for compliance with court ordered payment plans and support obligations, as established by the court; assists in advanced location efforts; assists with interstate document processing and direct income withholding, and performs other related work as assigned.

Pay range listed is hiring range. Full range is $22.83 to $34.26 per hour with outstanding performance.
Performs process serving of legal documents and follow up activities.

Schedules and completes intake interviews with applicants to obtain factual information in completing the necessary paperwork to open and maintain cases. Enters data into the computer system.

Manages the arrears only and monitor only cases for payments and compliance with court orders. Makes recommendations to Child Support Officers in regard to delinquent accounts to proceed with appropriate court action. Negotiates with customers to increase compliance with payments and money owed.

Reviews files and contacts parties and/or employers to obtain additional information regarding employment status, availability of health insurance, address information, and updating the necessary computer system to reflect changes.

Processes public assistance and foster care referrals to assure cases are properly set up in the computer system.

Works on special projects and reports as assigned.

Attends meetings, workshops, trainings, and conferences at the discretion of the supervisor.

Works the hours and/or shifts assigned and begins and ends work on time.Occasional training in St. Paul is required.

Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires equivalency of high school graduation and four years related legal (family law), administrative, customer services, or human services experience in a direct or support service function. A bachelor's degree in a human services program, paralegal, or related field may substitute for the experience. Preference given for county or state child support, case aide, or collections experience, court/family lawexperience with service of process and court filings. Computer experience and ability to multi-task in a demand-driven work environment is a must!

HOURS AVAILABLE : 20 hours/week

JOB SUMMARY : Thomas Allen provides person-centered services to individuals with disabilities. As a Case Aide, you will work with either Developmental Disability or Long Term Care Case Managers and assist them in an administrative capacity that does not involve contact with individuals served.

DUTIES INCLUDE :

  • Help case managers compile information for billing reports
  • Data entry and report distribution
  • Maintaining and distributing division client and client coverage lists
  • Filing, faxing, paperwork and file preparation, mail-outs, and other administrative duties
  • Assist case managers with obtaining forms and information from providers
  • Remain abreast of industry changes, DHS changes, and contractual requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS :

  • High School diploma required; Associate's degree is preferred
  • 1 year of post-secondary education OR administrative assistant, office/clerical work experience, case aide or closely related experience
  • Experience in the Human Services field preferred, but not required
  • Required to be able to carry/lift 30 pounds
  • Proficient computer skills, ability to work independently, able to meet deadlines, and excellent attention to detail
  • Background clearance
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, written and verbal
  • Driver's license, acceptable driving record and proof of auto insurance required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
