Position Mission: The counselor's role is to support and develop student's academic, social and emotional readiness for learning. The Counselor provides support and resources for families in order to increase the success of students; collaborates and partners with students, teachers, principal, parents, community members, and partners to help identify social and emotional needs and helps design and support prevention and intervention activities and strategies.
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in Counseling or a related field.
Valid Texas certification as a School Counselor (EC-12)
Experience:
Working in the mental health field.
Meet the requirements for Texas certificates based on certification from other states or territories of the United States highly desired.

Coordinates, facilitates, and implements social and emotional curriculum, parent education opportunities, and skills training.

General Description
Clinicians conduct mental health assessments for all Unaccompanied Children (UC) in care, as well as provide ongoing individual and group counseling.

Minimum Qualifications
Education : Master's degree in social work, LMFT, Counseling or other relevant behavioral science in which clinical experience is a program requirement.
Experience : Desired - Two years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience, group and individual counseling and related treatment services.
Credentials : Must be registered within their state of residence to provide supervised therapy. A copy must be provided to HR.

What You'll Be Doing
Utilize trauma theory and brief therapeutic techniques to work with unaccompanied children entering the United States during a typical stay of 30-35 days.
Provide individual and group counseling, and screening for human trafficking concerns.
Conduct mental health assessments of all children admitted to the UC program.
Provide ongoing individual and crisis intervention.
Prepare goal-oriented diagnostic assessments, group counseling, staff training and program enrichment.
Provide guidance to all members of the program staff.
The Clinician will carry up to 12 cases.
Upon request, this role may be required to travel with UC, 14 and under, to locations in the United States.
Other duties as assigned.

Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be from an accredited educational institution.
Requirements:
Must be at least 23 years of age.
Must be in good standing with the licensing agency.
Preferred:
Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience in AOD programs within a correctional setting.
Experience providing AOD services to adolescents.
Experience and Education Substitutions:
Pro-rated part-time experience may satisfy the experience requirements.
* Social Science degrees include: Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Family Relations, Guidance and Counseling, Rehabilitation, Criminal Justice, Education (or education certification).
