Your Job as a Substance Use Counselor:
The Substance Use Counselor is instrumental in our patient's treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder. Substance Use Counselors provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums which include both individual and group counseling sessions.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in both individual and group counseling sessions.
Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient's recovery.
Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
Initial assessments as well as follow up assessments.
Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
Provide casemanagement duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care as needed.
Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients, as needed.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:
Master's degree in social or health services field;
Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities.
* Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
* Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use recovery.
* Knowledge of evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention techniques.
* Documentation experience, including maintaining clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress updates in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
* Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards).
* Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team with medical staff, casemanagers, and peer support specialists.

Responsibilities

The CaseManager is responsible for utilization reviews and resource management, discharge planning, treatment plan management and financial management, while also completing medical record documentation. Performs verification of utilization criteria reviews.
Builds relationships and coordinate with payor sources to assure proper reimbursement for hospital provided services, promote costs attentive care via focus on resource management within the plan of care.
Demonstrates compliance with facility-wide Utilization Management policies and procedures.
Coordinates UR compliance with Quality Management to assure all licensure and accrediting requirements are fulfilled.
Maintains fiscal responsibilities. Assures the department is identifying and negotiating the fullest possible reimbursement to maximize insurance benefit coverage for the patient. Reviews insurance verification forms to minimize risk.
Facilitates multi-disciplinary team meetings including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and rehabilitation therapists.

Overview
The Forensic CaseManager is responsible for monitoring and assisting individuals involved in the criminal justice system who exhibit serious impairment due to mental illness. The focus of the position is on serving individuals under court supervision adjudicated Incompetent to Proceed or Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity consistent with Florida Statute 3.212 and Rules of Criminal Procedure 916. Requirements

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of full time or equivalent experience working with adults experiencing mental illness.
Must be eligible for enrollment as an Adult CaseManager by the State of Florida.
Must be a Certified Behavioral Health CaseManager (CBHCM) through the Florida Certification Board within six (6) months of start date
Must have knowledge of available resources in the service area for adults with mental illness.
Must have knowledge of and comply with state and federal statutes, rules and policies that effect the target population.

Summary
This position is responsible for providing transition casemanagement services to inmates in accordance with the requirements of the contract and the principles of the GEO's Continuum of Care. The key components of the GEO Continuum of Care include specialized staff training, enhanced GEOtrack casemanagement, evidence-based interventions, education and vocational programs, transition planning, and post release support. This position is responsible for working with inmates within one year of release on the development of transition plans and connections to post release community-based resources. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in appropriate training for designated responsibilities.
Utilizes GEO's proprietary electronic casemanagement system “GEOtrack” to record casemanagement notes, track inmate progress with programmatic needs, transition services and final discharge planning with Continuum of Care team.
Develops detailed knowledge of those assigned to specific caseload. Ensures academic, vocational, evidence based programming, support services and transition needs are addressed through casemanagement plan.
Develops transition plans in conjunction with inmates and makes appropriate linkages to community resources prior to release.
Conducts individual and group cognitive behavioral treatment sessions as needed.
Establishes a relationship with a statewide network of community-based service providers that address inmates' needs and works with released inmates to eliminate barriers to successful reintegration.
Actively engages community resources to work with released inmates emphasizing the critical first months of release. Works to connect community resources and pro-social people with inmates prior to release via telephone or through visits at facility.
Works to ensure inmates obtain eligible benefits and proper identification prior to release.

Consistently visible within the brigade/regiment which allows MFLC services to be accessible. Establish and maintains working relationships with community resources and military populations. Partners with POC to provide MFLC services in a manner that addresses the needs of the brigade/regiment and maintains confidentiality.
Provides MFLC response to critical incidents, surge, and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) program manager. Counselor will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed or at the request of the Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
Manages duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol and staffs the cases with Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
Communicates with Regional Supervisors and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations to which the counselor is assigned.
Participates in regular in-services/training, Quality Improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned/appropriate.
Participates in initiatives, studies, and pilot programs as directed by the customer and/or Magellan. This includes participation in pilot program certification and training processes, completion of activity documentation, integration of pilot activities in non-medical counseling work, and the utilization of applicable technology to complete required activities.

Master's Degree from an accredited Graduate Program in a Mental Health related field.
Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a State, District of Columbia, US Territory or Commonwealth that grants authority to provide counseling services as an independent practitioner.
A minimum two years of post-licensure clinical experience.
Demonstrate intermediate-level competencies in technology and software (i.e., Microsoft Suite, Internet navigation, Smartphone/Tablet and application navigation, video-conferencing platform navigation).
Requires ability to engage and communicate with military members or children as assigned, in order to accomplish job functions, and to respond quickly to emergent situations in any physical location on a military installation and/or within a school setting, which includes the need to traverse short and/or long distances within the base to both indoor and outdoor locations, to maneuver through rugged, outdoor or uneven locations (e.g., steep inclines, stairs, grass), and work in outdoor weather and other military base conditions. May require travel to locations outside of a military installation in a variety of physical environments. Due to the nature of working on military installations or related worksites, counselors may need to comply with various site-specific requirements to work at designated locations. For example, for some assignments, counselors will need to have certain immunizations or vaccinations and provide record of receipt.
Ability to prove US Citizenship and must speak fluent English.

Pass a National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) Clearance, an Installation Records Check (IRC), Criminal History Background Check and FBI Fingerprints Check. Some units require a secret level clearance in addition to the previously stated requirements.
Vehicle Operator's License Requirement: Unless specifically waived by the FEDSIM COR, all contractor personnel providing counseling support at Government locations shall possess a valid U.S. state vehicle operator's license. As a condition for employment under this contract, contractor personnel may be required to pass all tests and obtain and U.S. military vehicle operator's permit for commercial sedans and similar, for use at Temporary Duty (TDY) locations, if required.
