Job Description:

This role is responsible for assisting the Office Specialist with performing all phases of the store's accounting operations in an accurate and efficient manner to ensure that the work shift contributes positively to the best interests of the store. Complete all other duties as assigned in a timely manner. Here's what you'll do: Observe strict confidentiality of all company records and financial information and safeguard against unauthorized access to such information at all times. Monitor front end activities to ensure that all cashiers comply with stores policies in the handling of all transactions: cash, checks, debit/credit/EBT cards, ID requirements, over rings, refunds, bottle returns, vendor coupons, gift certificates, lottery tickets sales, and policies pertaining to the sale of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, pseudoephedrine, etc. Accurately operate cash register, display cost of customer purchase, make change, cash checks, and issue receipt.
Assist the Office Specialist by accurately balancing cash and media to ledger and ensuring cash is controlled and safely deposited. Knowledgeable and capable of implementing all related security and cash drawer accounting procedures. Assist the Office Specialist by keeping management informed of problems with pricing, cash registers, scales or other accounting problems. Assist the Office Specialist by maintaining records on cash controls for internal audits. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

What You'll Do:


Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of Company policy. Perform cashier reconciliation, cash handling and daily cash balancing, communicating all variances to management Ensure the maintenance of accurate and efficient databases and a smooth flow of information throughout the store and Company Answer customer service calls and assist customers as necessary Responsible for production and distribution of store signage Responsible for both daily and weekly financial reporting Track all money going in to and out of the store safe Perform scanning and pricing verifications Enter interdepartmental transfers, inventory data and shrink data Responsible for database management in BR Data Responsible for production and distribution of store signage Assist in the development and update of order guides Provide retail/cashiering support as required Other administrative duties as assigned


About You:

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Responsible for the accounting bookwork practices at the store which includes the reconciliation and recording of drawers, balancing the office cash, lottery, and stamps. Assists in the research and investigation of any discrepancies. Keeps management fully informed.

2. Prepares bank deposits or assists with their preparation, making sure they are completed in a timely manner and are accurate.

3. Smiles and greets customers, answers customer questions and helps resolve customer concerns promptly, in a polite and professional manner. Follows company policies relating to customer check out to increase customer satisfaction.

4. Assist customer service with answering phone calls with a polite and positive attitude. Uses intercom for necessary announcements or pages.

5. Monitors the performance of cashiers and lot attendants and provides feedback to management. Follows and enforces all Front End policies and procedures. Participates in training/retraining of front end associates to ensure high levels of productivity, speed, accuracy and courtesy to customers. Assists to enforce and adhere to company policies and procedures as well as government regulations and laws.

6. Operates front-end scanning equipment and register, performs all related check out procedures including properly bagging merchandise efficiently and placing merchandise in customer's cart.

7. Maintains accuracy during the transaction, ensuring the customer is charged for all items and appropriate funds are collected, including cash, checks, electronic payment and coupons. 8. Maintains knowledge of weekly ads, marketing promotions and store layout to answer customer questions.

9. Responsible for general sanitation in the department. Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements. Disposes of trash properly.

10. Ensures smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and superiors. Responsible to continuously improve job performance.

11. Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). Including but not limited to: cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc.

12. May also be called upon to assist in other departments

13.Indirectly supervises associates working on the Front End including cashiers and lot attendants. Specific number of associates depends upon store size.

Education and Experience

Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions/ procedure manuals. Can speak effectively to customers to solicit new business. Able to type, prepare, copy, file, and keep records. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw, and interpret bar graphs. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
