Hours needed: THURSDAY AND FRIDAY 4:00am-9:00am and SATURDAY 5AM-2:00PM As a Cashier, you will ring up sales, take payments, and issue receipts. About the role This position requires interacting in a polite and helpful manner with customers, restocking displays and ensuring signage is accurate and clear, maintaining a neat and clean work environment, and efficiently and accurately running a cash register to complete transactions. This is a seasonal position and could entail working either at our Market or at our Pick-Your-Own operation on our Main Farm. What you'll do Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service and be the “face” of Phillips Farms. Engage with customers, smile, and make eye contact. Answer their questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. Be friendly and polite. Notify a supervisor of any customer complaints or concerns. Cashier: Ring up customer purchases, weigh produce, run the cash register, give correct change, and accurately process credit card transactions. Count the money in the register drawer precisely at the beginning and end of the shift and recap all sales/transactions accurately. Be up-to-date on product changes including price, sizes, and types Correctly identify fruits, vegetables, and plants when entering items into the system during a transaction Restocking/Product Display: Assist with set up and break down of the produce display as directed. Sort through displayed produce and assist with restocking throughout the day; products on display should always be in great condition, bountiful and consolidated. Check to make sure every product has a clearly labeled price sign. Water plants and hanging baskets as directed. Remove dead leaves and keep all plants healthy-looking and ready for customer purchase. Maintain a beautiful display. Organization/Cleanliness: Keep the farm market/PYO shed clean, swept, organized and well-stocked at all times. Pick up garbage and debris in the parking area and grass area. Keep things neat and uncluttered inside and outside. Gather shopping carts and wagons, fill hand-washing stations, maintain bathroom cleanliness, remove garbage and recycle boxes MISC: Closely follow guidelines to monitor for theft Maintain regular communication with your supervisor and advise of any out-of-the-ordinary situations or issues that come up during your shift; ask questions for clarification of things you don't know or don't understand Perform new responsibilities and duties as needed in addition to those described in the Daily Procedures Manual, and as assigned by a supervisor Complete daily checklists for opening, closing, and completing tasks throughout your shift Dress and groom according to company policy Remain in compliance with company shift coverage policy Communicate well and work cooperatively with your coworkers and supervisors Qualifications Minimum age 16 Available to consistently work weekends and all holidays Able to lift and carry farm crates and produce boxes/bags (up to 25 lbs) Able to stand for long hours at a time Able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions Punctuality/Reliability: must arrive on time at the correct location and be ready to work each day Strong work ethic: must be a self-starter, have a positive attitude, be able to work independently, be able to identify tasks to complete in-between customers, and be eager to learn Must be flexible to perform different tasks and adapt to a constantly changing work environment

Cashier DEPARTMENT: Front End REPORTS TO: Customer Service Manager / Bookkeeper FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt To operate a cash register and check-stand efficiently and courteously in a manner that will conform with all front-end procedures and company policies. Cashiers are also expected to ensure customer satisfaction by giving prompt and courteous service. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1) Scan grocery orders accurately and efficiently. 2) Correctly identify departments and modifiers that do not scan. 3) Utilized scan and bag technique for maximum efficiency, and bag according to customer requests. 4) Count cash drawer before shift begins, and keep drawer secure at all times. 5) Handle a payment media accurately, and comply with company policy of accountability/cash control. 6) Correctly follow void procedures. 7) Accurately identify produce items and key in their appropriate lookup code numbers. 8) Enforce security policies such as shoplifting, associate purchase policy, bottom of basket (BOB), and the Grapevine. 9) Knowledge of proper store supply procedures. 10) Knowledge of weekly ad and Hot Sheet items. 11) Provide high standards of customer service by properly greeting and thanking customers. 12) Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook. SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1) Assist in general housekeeping around the front end area. 2) To help stock shelves or face the store when necessary. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1) Must have dexterity in hands to be able to scan/key groceries. 2) Must have strong communication skills to ensure excellent customer service. 3) Strong mathematical skills required to run the registers. 4) Must be able to lift up to twenty five (25) pounds up to forty percent (40%) of the time. 5) Must be able to stand upright for the majority of your scheduled work shift. Cashiers play a critical customer service role by providing customers with fast, friendly, accurate and safe service. They process Checkout and/or Return transactions, as well as monitor and maintain the Self-Checkout area. They proactively seek product/project knowledge to provide customers with information and identify selling opportunities. They follow all policies and procedures to ensure that shrink is minimized. A Head Cashier will position Cashiers and support them by expediting price checks, approving Point of Sale transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental. They provide first level escalation for customer issues and assist in the supervision, coaching and training of other Front End Associates by participating in the training of new Cashiers and utilizing all available tools to coach and develop other Cashiers. The preferred qualification for a Head Cashier is 1+ years of Cashier experience.
