The Cashier I plays a vital role in the university's financial operations by accurately receiving and recording campus-wide cash collections. This position ensures compliance with established fiscal controls and procedures, safeguarding institutional assets. The Cashier I delivers exceptional customer service daily to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Responsibilities include processing payments, reconciling transactions, maintaining secure cash handling practices, and assisting with inquiries related to student accounts. Typical duties may include but are not limited to: * Accepts and processes payments via cash, check, wire, and credit card, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies. * Processes waivers, third-party contract payments, and miscellaneous financial transactions efficiently and accurately. * Prepares receipts, deposit slips, and related documentation for end-of-day bank deposits. * Researches and resolves student account inquiries, escalating complex issues to appropriate personnel. * Maintains and balances cash drawer daily, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly. * Distributes student refund checks in a timely and secure manner. * Assists with the organization and filing of accounts receivable records to ensure audit readiness and data integrity.
