Casino Arizona company history timeline

1988

In 1988, the United States Congress passed the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), which recognized gaming as a way to promote tribal economic development, self-sufficiency and strong tribal government.

1992

In May 1992, NIGC issued rules clarifying that a tribe must have a Compact before it can operate slot machines.

1994

In Arizona, there were 16 Compacts and 10 operating casinos by December 31, 1994.

Native American groups, concerned about the financial future of their people, fought for and won the right to provide casino gambling in 1994.

1998

Casino Arizona was incorporated back in 1998.

1999

By 1999, they widened their focus to expand the space and included 250 slot machines and 180 additional employees.

2017

In November 2017, Governor Douglas A. Ducey signed a Compact with the Hopi Tribe.

2021

The Amended Tribal-State Gaming Compacts (Compact) were signed into law by Governor Doug Ducey and the Arizona Tribes on April 15, 2021 and will be maintained for the next 20 years.

2022

Appendix K, which covers regulations governing event wagering, was revised in June of 2022.
