Patients are treated directly in their homes to reduce the need for ambulance transportation and hospital stays. SmartCare Paramedic Responsibilities
Deliver quality patient care in accordance with clinical policies, statewide protocol, and standards of care
Attend to patients in a courteous and professional manner
Monitor remote patient tracking and respond as appropriate
Participate in discharge planning of SmartCare patients
Complete initial in-home assessments and on-going home visits as appropriate for all patients enrolled in SmartCare program
Communicate effectively with EMS agencies, physicians, and other healthcare providers

Fully state certified as an EMT-P
Certifications in Advanced and Basic Life Support
Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record through a DMV background check
2 years minimum experience as a Paramedic
Be in good clinical standing
Possess strong customer service and communication skills
Be able to work independently and be able to function as part of a care planning team
Pass a background check including CORI
Pass a drug screen and lift test
Commitment to providing exemplary customer service
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) and either Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) are preferred

POSITION SUMMARY:
Administers basic and advanced life support to care for sick and injured persons in a pre-hospital setting. Initiates treatment in accordance with BLS and ALS clinical standards of practice, other company policies and procedures, Statewide Treatment Protocols, and medical control physician orders
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Response
Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance. If there is more than one injury or patient, establish priorities.
Administers initial treatment at emergency scene.
Provides medical examination and screening of patients consistent with approved protocols.
Assists in extricating trapped victims and transports sick and injured persons to treatment center.
Observes, records, and reports to physician, patient's conditions, and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
Directs and coordinates patient care, between interagency (i.e. Fire and police) personnel and other company employees.
Communicates with physicians and other medical personnel via radio or telephone. Administers additional care as directed by emergency room medical and nursing staff.
Communicates with patient, patient's family, others at the scene and at the hospital in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Completes and assists in the completion of necessary patient and company paperwork in accordance with company policy and procedures
Transport Vehicle and Equipment Use
Drives vehicle to address or location given, using the safest and most expeditious route dictated by traffic and weather conditions, traffic ordinances, and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation.
Properly load, secure, and transport patients in accordance with company policy and procedures
Transports and accompanies patient to the receiving facility while monitoring and treating patient during transport.
At each shift, completes vehicle and equipment checklists to ensure ambulance is properly stocked and ready for service.
Drives vehicle to the address or location given, using the safest and most expeditious route dictated by traffic and weather conditions, traffic ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation.
Lifts and places patients on stretcher, restrains patient appropriately, and lifts and moves loaded stretcher into ambulance
Drives ambulance to and from emergency and non-emergency scenes in a manner appropriate to dispatch direction and to patient condition, at all times considering due regard for the safety of self and others
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Associates degree; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Complete an ambulance and medical equipment checklist at the beginning of each assigned shift. Inspect and clean the assigned ambulance and all medical equipment to ensure compliance with minimum stock requirements and proper function.
Complete and submit all documentation/paperwork requirements daily.
Communicate effectively with EMS agencies, physicians, and other healthcare providers
Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines
Must maintain a reliable attendance record
Perform daily housekeeping duties at assigned bases of operation
Complete other duties as assigned.

Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record through a DMV background check
State certified

Provides safe and efficient response, treatment, and transportation of all persons requesting or requiring emergent or non-emergent medical services. Using basic equipment found on an ambulance, EMT's may provide treatment onsite or during an ambulance transportation in trauma, cardiac, or respiratory emergencies.

EMT Duties
Deliver quality patient care in accordance with clinical policies, statewide protocol, and standards of care
Attend to patients in a courteous and professional manner
Operate the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations; company policies; federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and statutes.
Complete an ambulance and medical equipment checklist at the beginning of each assigned shift. Inspect and clean the assigned ambulance and all medical equipment to ensure compliance with minimum stock requirements and proper function.
Complete and submit all documentation/paperwork requirements daily.
Communicate effectively with EMS agencies, physicians, and other healthcare providers
Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines
Must maintain a reliable attendance record
Perform daily housekeeping duties at assigned bases of operation
Complete other duties as assigned.
EMT Job Qualifications
Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record through a DMV background check
State certified
CPR certified
Pass a background check including CORI
Pass a drug screen and lift test
Commitment to providing exemplary customer service
Previous driving experience in a commercial setting a plus
Emergency Medical Technician Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and maneuver 125 pounds with assistance and without difficulty
Ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty
Ability to lift and carry 125 pounds up and down two flights of stairs with assistance and without difficulty
Ability to sit, stand, and kneel for long periods of time
Ability to walk without difficulty and without affective the immediate performance of job-related duties
Ability to bend, stoop, and crawl as duties require
Ability to occasionally work in low light and confined spaces
