Job Description
The principal role of this position is to generate corporate and non-corporate revenues for the catering department by prospecting and soliciting both new and repeat clients. Markets inlcude but not limited to Corporate, Weddings, Fundraisers, Non-Corporate, Social, Education, Government, and other segments.The ideal candidate will be the primary liaison with the hotel operations team and provide consistent feedback with key departments to ensure client success.

You'll be responsible for sales and operations of the catering department, and spend your primary time on direct selling. As well as be a liaison between the restaurant and the hotel, and between the client and banquet operations. Responsibilities will also include staying current on industry trends, and you seek creative ways to infiltrate markets and accounts.
Some of your responsibilities include:
Maintain appropriate balance of account maintenance, prospecting for new business, and build profitable relationships with clients.
Produce marketing plan and assist in developing the annual sales budget with the restaurant team. Implement a monthly action plan in order to meet and exceed the budgeted sales goals.

BASIC PURPOSE : Solicit, book, plan and coordinate meetings/functions while maximizing the banquet space to meet/exceed sales goals.
ORGANIZATIONAL SCOPE : Position is responsible for finalizing group business. Recommends program and procedural changes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business through efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, etc...) while maximizing banquet space to meet/exceed revenue goals.
- Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet/exceed sales goals.
- Plan, up-sell and detail the meeting/function with the client including: space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes/decorations, etc... Complete the contracts, prepare the appropriate paperwork, coordinate with the appropriate areas in the hotel, resolve customer issues, complaints and problems to ensure quality product delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare status and period end reports to keep management abreast of activities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate/hotel procedures and products and the competition's product, strengths and weaknesses to continually improve sales strategies and the achievement of goals.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Participate in communication and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and promote sales.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as required.
Knowledge and Skills :
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Four-year college degree preferred.
Experience: A minimum of two years experience required in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

- Requires knowledge of the hotel's and IHR's policies and procedures and the ability to determine course of action based on these guidelines.
