    PURPOSE: The Health Sciences Subject Matter Expert is a temporary position that will lead the creation of the curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences. The SME will provide expert knowledge and guidance in understanding the needs of the health sciences industry and connecting this knowledge of industry to curriculum development. This position will serve as the lead authority in the health sciences professions related to workforce education and development needs. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Advises the Department Head, Dean and the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs on the workforce education and development needs in the health sciences. * Develops and recommends academic program curriculum which aligns with industry, workforce, education and development needs. * Drafts course curriculum requirements and develops or determines materials and support resources to meet academic program standards and best practices. * Coordinates actions with appropriate faculty and staff in order to gain the appropriate buy-in and input on curriculum development and academic program design. QUALIFICATIONS: * A minimum of five years of experience within the health sciences professions. * Three years of instructional experience at the college or university level. * A minimum of a master's degree in a health sciences discipline (e.g., nursing, medicine, healthcare administration etc.). Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics: * Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. * An understanding of emerging technologies and the effective application of instructional technologies to enhance student success outcomes is required. * An understanding of contemporary issues in higher education. * Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development of teams. * Proven interest and application of student development theory in higher education, complemented by an understanding of current trends in student success. * Knowledge and appreciation for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). * Commitment to professionalism which includes professional decorum, dress, and etiquette and a full understanding of university and academic protocol.
