Caterpillar's Resource Industries Division is seeking a Test & Validation Senior Engineer to support electrification product development at our Tucson Proving Ground. In this role, you'll work on engineering assignments that build your expertise in Caterpillar products, technologies, and systems. Your focus will be full-scale testing of mining and construction equipment to ensure products perform as intended and meet customer requirements. What You'll Do:

What You'll Do
As the Electrification Site Development Manager, you are Caterpillar's single point of contact at the mine site. You'll lead the charge in bringing electrified mining to life by:
* Being the face of Caterpillar at site-the primary link between the customer, dealer, and Cat engineering teams.
* Managing communication flow across all stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity.
* Co‑developing and governing a multi‑phase implementation plan with the customer and dealer to guide electrification rollout.

As a Senior Electrification Application Lead, you'll play a critical role in delivering cutting-edge energy transfer solutions that power the next generation of mining operations.
This is more than a job - it's a chance to work directly with customers and dealers, experience the world, and influence the design and support of groundbreaking technologies like Cat Dynamic Energy Transfer (DET). You'll collaborate with engineering, product development, and field teams to influence the designs of our solutions, and develop and execute strategies to deploy them to mining applications. This position is highly visible to external customers and dealers and has a high impact on their perception of Caterpillar as a partner in product development and application. The candidate will be an ambassador for Caterpillar, sharing best practices in a constructive manner.
Cat Dynamic Energy Transfer is a fully Caterpillar-developed system that can transfer energy to both diesel-electric and battery-electric large mining trucks while they are working around a mine site. It can also charge a machine's batteries while operating with increased speed on grade, improving operational efficiency and machine uptime.
What you will do:
The Senior Electrification Application Lead provides technical expertise and pre-sales commercial support for RI Electrification worldwide.
Working with dealers and end customers to successfully DET Technology into Mining applications. This includes sharing knowledge for both the physical installation and controls integration.
Ensuring a product's technical specifications and capabilities are communicated to the sales force.
Providing technical assistance as needed to enable the sale and integration of the product. This involves verbal & written communication as well as field support activities.
Serving as a subject matter expert to support product development efforts by providing critical customer input on market requirements and product optimization.
Developing and maintaining application and installation manuals and technical communications
Preparing and conducting product and application training for dealers and end customers, as well as assisting customers and dealers with complex or unique applications.
Degree Requirement: Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Deep experience with switchgear, AC distribution and parallel operations and controls.
Mining industry experience in a technical support role .

Additional Information:
The primary work location for this role is Tucson, AZ, with a requirement to work on-site full-time at a Caterpillar facility.
This position may require up to 15 - 40 % travel, including global travel, to support specific sales opportunities, deliver dealer training, support industry trade shows, and conduct installation and design audits.

**About the Role**
Caterpillar's Corporate Engineering Intern program seeks students currently enrolled in a four-year university to work alongside engineering professionals to learn and apply themselves to project work within their teams.

+ **Product Design:** Engineer components & systems for Caterpillar products to meet our customers' needs. Deliver solutions by leading collaboration with cross functional teams throughout our value chain starting from the initial concept through production.
+ **Simulation/Performance Analysis:** CFD - Computational Fluid Dynamics (ANSYS), FEA - Finite Element Analysis, 3D modelling, root cause investigation; system/subsystem/component design optimization, structural dynamics, development and optimization of Engine, Aftertreatment, Battery, Fuel Cell, Powertrain, and/or Machine System performance.
+ **Test/Validation/Hands on:** Apply strong mechanical engineering understanding in a test/validation (hands-on) environment, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with others for optimal results.
+ **Controls Development:** Develop/Implement control system algorithms using Matlab/Simulink for various control systems including but not limited to engine controllers, machine implement controllers as well as powertrain controllers. Will be responsible for understanding the feature requirement, implementing it as well as testing it prior to a production roll out.
+ **Electronic Components:** Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, work with suppliers on design and validation of the components, as well as testing the components in various environments. + **Embedded Software Development:** Develop embedded software in C, C# and/or C++ for various electronic control modules. Some examples of embedded software development applications include Datalink communications, Inputs and Outputs [Sensors and actuators], speed calculation, injection/spark timing, memory management, CPU optimization, multi core design and implementation etc. In addition, some areas of work include developing scripts in Python/Visual Basic for automation.
+ **Software Validation/Verification for Electronic Systems:** Verify functionality of a feature or control system algorithm on a HIL [Hardware in the Loop] simulator bench or a SIL [Software in the loop] system. Understand requirements of the feature and/or the schematics of the controller / control system, verify functionality and debug/report anomalies to the development team and help validate fixes.
+ **Engineering Data Analytics:** Leverage ability to write and understand computer code, especially Python; apply knowledge of data analytics/data science, machine learning concepts/tools, and engineering and statistics fundamentals.
+ **Process Engineering:** Apply mechanical, manufacturing, systems and/or industrial engineering knowledge to analyze and optimize an engineering process or processes. Will have the opportunity to leverage problem-solving and communication skills.
