They also create and supervise developmental and recreational activities, accompany students to Sunday chapel services, collaborate with staff to continually enhance the program, and provide coverage in student homes as needed

The Community Education Specialist 2 (CES 2) position will be located in the University of California Cooperative Extension Office and will act as a valuable team member of the 4-H Youth Development Program (4-H YDP). 4-H YDP is the largest youth-serving organization in the U.S. Our focus is to provide positive youth development to youth in our community through research-based best practices, community collaborations, and community engagement.
The CES 2 helps to coordinate and monitor the daily activities of the 4-H Youth Development Program (4-H YDP) in Sutter/Yuba Counties. The primary focus of this position is on project management of up to 20 different research projects in diverse fields of study within agriculture and natural resources. This range includes plant science, soil science, animal science, wildlife ecology, oak woodland ecology, fire science, rangeland management, and hydrology. This position interacts with Primary Investigators (PIs) throughout the research process, from idea generation through project creation and refinement including design planning, plot construction, project implementation and management, data collection, analysis, and reporting. This position assists with duties related to livestock management of HREC's sheep flock, and all field maintenance activities required to keep a 5,358-acre research center functioning. In addition, this position will assist with or lead public outreach activities and extension event.

Purpose:
The Irrigation and Nutrient Management Education Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and delivering educational programs on irrigation and nutrient management for growers, irrigators, and farm workers in the Central Coast region of California. This position provides objective information about irrigation and nutrient management and promotes sound decision making to reduce nutrient leaching and runoff. This position serves as the Irrigation and Nutrient Management Education Program Coordinator in the Central Coast region of California interacting with regional regulators, outreach and service providers including but not limited to Regional Water Quality Control Board, Water Quality Coalitions, RCDs, and growers, irrigators, and farm workers. The Coordinator assists the Central Coast farming community with their educational and technical assistance needs related to irrigation and nutrient management. In addition, the Coordinator supports train-the-trainer needs of individuals who must train field workers and irrigators.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The Academic Coordinator will:
Coordinate UCCE one-on-one technical assistance to farmers on the Central Coast to evaluate irrigation system efficiency and provide diagnostics, reports and recommendations to growers.
Coordinate outreach and educational efforts such as field days, extension workshops, tailgate meetings, demonstration sites, social media, webinars, and video recordings.
Prepare English/Spanish webinar training curriculum and training materials for annual irrigation and nutrient management workshops.
Prepare in-person training curriculum and training materials for annual irrigation and nutrient management workshops offered in Mandarin.
Prepare in-person training curriculum and training materials for annual Crop Manage workshops.
Prepare and translate electronic newsletters on irrigation and nutrient management topics into Spanish and coordinate translation into Mandarin.
Develop and translate educational factsheets on irrigation and nutrient management into Spanish and coordinate translation into Mandarin.
Work with project team and lead efforts to develop an irrigation and nutrient management resources website.
Prepare high quality written and attractive materials including: proposals and grant reports; program and project impact statements; blog posts, reports, briefings, executive summaries, and brochures; and posters and presentations.
Measure and evaluate outreach outcomes and impacts.
Maintain documentation of outreach activities including agendas, minutes, reports, and other documents.

Reporting Relationship: The Academic Coordinator will serve under the administrative and programmatic guidance of the UCCE Santa Clara County Small Farms & Specialty Crops Advisor with additional programmatic guidance provided by the UCCE Monterey County Irrigation and Water Resource Advisor.

As a talent coordinator, you will serve as the main contact for candidates, helping them with the application process and reaching out to recruiters. You will coordinate all aspects of candidate interviews - including booking travel arrangements, flights, and hotel accommodations - submit flight itineraries for leadership approval, and maintain the itinerary. Likewise, you will work with a talent representative to update a Tracker spreadsheet with flight and hotel information. Upon completion of background checks and credential verification, you will collaborate with the compensation team to obtain employment agreements for new faculty. You will also inform the necessary staff once agreements are finalized and keep the SCADstart spreadsheet updated with current status information and DOT results. Among other duties, you will upload signed contracts and agreements into the ATS (PageUp) and attach relevant documentation to the candidate's record. Additionally, you will initiate the I-9 process for newly hired faculty and staff. You will also oversee the entire sign-on bonus process.
