    Senior Behavioral Health Mental Health Technician(MHT) Position Available : FULLTIME 7A-7P PRIMARY PURPOSE - Provides professional direct patient care and program services under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse to senior behavioral health patients in a manner consistent with the philosophy, standards, and objectives of Catholic Care Center and the Senior Behavioral Health Program. Works collaboratively with all members of the health care team to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment and provides compassionate person-centered care to patients consistent with role scope, current regulatory standards, and practice expectations. Demonstrates competency to provide age appropriate care to older adults and geriatric patients age generally 55 years and older. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (The essential responsibilities and accountabilities of this position including interactions with other departments and outside vendors, if applicable, in PRIORITY order.) General Duties • Demonstrates performance of tasks necessary to maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu and provide optimum patient care. • Provides direct patient care and assistance as needed and as assigned to support patients with ADLS to include dressing, bathing, eating, feeding, and other tasks as needed to ensure quality care and management of the patient • Leads and/or assists with program related activities and groups that reinforce daily goals, learned skills, and cognitive stimulation appropriate in line with role scope and training. • Uses program de-escalation techniques that have been trained and support a trauma informed person-centered approach toward patients • Performs patient rounds and safety checks and always maintains responsibility to remove and promptly report any safety issue immediately to nursing staff during their shift • Performs and documents vital signs on patients as assigned • Demonstrates appropriate use of patient care equipment necessary to perform role tasks • Follows unit safety practices and procedures at all times to include continuous hand hygiene, appropriate use of PPE, appropriate use of patient assistive devices, falls prevention protocols, and unit contraband prevention. In addition- • Participates in hospital educational programs as requested. • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned and required. • Properly and accurately documents/charts observations and other data related to the clinical condition of the patient. • Delivers age appropriate care for the patient population. RELEVANT WORK - Minimum amount of specifically related experience which is required to perform the role at this level. EXPERIENCE • One or more years' working in an acute behavioral health hospital program preferred • Certification as a nurse assistant • Basic computer knowledge (Word and Excel) and skills in rehabilitation‐related systems or other electronic medical records systems is desirable. • Basic knowledge of electronic medical record preferred Clinical Settings: • BLS / CPR and other certification as determined by specialty and clinical setting • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position EDUCATION- (Minimum formal academic training which typically provides the knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance. Note in Other if experience may be substituted.) Qualifications: Education • High School Diploma • Two years or more college preferred . SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS - (Required licenses, certificates, specific skills, personal traits, e.g., RN, CPA, able to type 90 wpm, detail orientation.) • CPI de-escalation program certification preferred • Trauma informed care training preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS (Specific statements of physical effort required and description of work environment; e.g., prolonged sitting at CRT.) Responsible for the development and engagement of POD's Clinical Field Staff by fostering a motivating work environment that recognizes and reward strong performance. 12. Review and Approve Orders, Evaluation Documentation and frequency of visits. 13. Reviews potential LUPA cases with ACD 14. Participates in staff meeting and in-services. 15. Distributes monthly staff meeting information to staff not attending. 16. Case conference with assigned field staff as required. 17. Perform annual performance evaluations on field staff. 18. Works with clinicians in developing the patient frequency of visits that are clinically appropriate. 19. Assists agency personnel in care coordination of patient/client services. Serves as a liaison between the organization, referral sources and patient/clients. 20. Assist in education of staff regarding hospitalizations 21. Proficient in HCHB and Outlook 22. Maintains Medicare guidelines regarding consents, ABN, non-provider coverage forms. 23. Participates in ongoing education. 24. All other duties as assigned by management.
