JOB SUMMARY:
The Driver is responsible for operating a Class A vehicle to transport life-saving medical products to our local customers. The Driver plays a critical role in building positive relationships with our customers by ensuring timely, accurate, and safe deliveries.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
3rd shift - Start time 3:00am to 11:30am, with OT possible; Monday - Friday schedule.
3rd shift - Start time is 4:00am; Monday-Friday schedule.
Load and secure product from the Medline Facility into a truck.
Safely operate a Class A vehicle between the Medline Facility and multiple customer destinations on a delivery route. Abide by Medline's safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment where needed, performing safety checks, etc.
Unload and deliver product at our customer facilities, ensuring timely deliveries.
Provide in-person support to the customer - addressing their questions and needs and providing appropriate documentation upon delivery.
Communicate with dispatching team regarding necessary adjustments to delivery route or schedule in order to meet customer needs and maintain safe operations.
Maintain a travel and cargo log in accordance with Federal and State regulations and company policy.
Perform inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operation and sufficient fuel levels for continued vehicle use.
Qualifications:
1.5 years+ of Class A driving experience
Current/valid CDLA and DOT medical card

The anticipated salary range for this position:

Take the defensive driving course in Relias
Maintain good personal hygiene and dress and groom appropriately.
Report on time as scheduled and follow all company policies and procedures.
Attend staff meetings and in-service sessions.
Become thoroughly familiar with emergency procedures.
Must be able to perform duties in a timely fashion, and within the prescribed sequences and schedules.
Must be cooperative with other departments and be courteous and respectful in dealing with them at all times.
Participate in and respond professionally to surveys (inspections) conducted by government agencies.
Driving Duties include
Daily safety check of the vehicle
Reporting Immediately to the Transportation Coordinator any problems related to the vehicle, routing or scheduling
Reporting immediately to the Program Director any problems observed or encountered while transporting participants
Safe assistance and transportation of participants
Responsible handling of participants personal belongings, medications and family communications which must be conveyed from the participants residence to the Center
Maintaining good rapport with family caregivers and participants
Maintaining good rapport with the community
Daily cleaning of the interior of the vehicle
Daily gas-up and weekly fluid check of the vehicle
Assist with emergency evacuation of participants if inclement weather (e.g. a hurricane) is threatened or if there is a power failure or other reason that the Center must close during program hours
Coordinate driver emergencies in route with emergency assistance.
Additional Duties include
Understand the needs of the advanced age, illness, disability, dementia or other cognitive impairments
Be sensitive to the needs of family caregivers
Be available to work unscheduled days and hours
Demonstrate good communication skills
Demonstrate knowledge of routes used in transporting participants, and of roadways in the service area.
Demonstrate the ability to read and understand a road map
Make a commitment to cooperative performance to attain care, organization and programmatic objectives which may entail performing duties not included in this .

Be personally involved with all aspects of resident care to the extent necessary to assess its quality.

This position operates a commercial motor vehicle with a GVW greater than 26,000 lbs with trailers up to 53 feet in length. This position is accountable for the safe and courteous driving, delivery, loading and unloading (including safe forklift operation) of items to facilities in the Intermountain distribution network. This position will be responsible to operate a semi-tractor and trailer in compliance with all state and federal regulations, including required paperwork, safety checks and reporting of any maintenance problems. Works to provide an excellent distribution system between facilities and organizations within Intermountain Health.

**Qualifications**
+ Possess a valid class 'A' driver's license with no restrictions and pass a driver's road test as required by DOT to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
+ A DOT Medical Card
+ 21 years of age or older as required by the DOT to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
+ Ability to use basic computer software and applications.
+ Understand and follow department procedures and practices.
+ Comply with Intermountain Healthcare's Motor Vehicle Driver Policy
+ Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Ability to load and unload carts and pallets.
+ Safely operate and maneuver forklifts in tight spaces while loading and unloading pallets from docks and trailers.
+ Demonstrated ability to safely operate trucks and equipment in all weather and light conditions and therefore must have good vision physical agility and good motor skills.
