1965 - Monsignors Francis LoBianco and Joseph A. Dooling establish St Francis School, the second private, special education school in the United States.

Subsequently, he served as the Mayor’s Youth Coordinator, until beginning work on September 1, 1971 with Catholic Charities in Syracuse.

In 1972, a TV program exposes conditions at Willowbrook State School, a New York State institution for persons with developmental disabilities.

1973 - Mount Carmel Guild Special Hospital, a 20-bed psychiatric unit for adults, was opened.

1976 - Office of Migration was established to provide immigration assistance and refugee resettlement services to new arrivals in our country.

In the 1980's, the agency's name was changed to Catholic Community Services of Lane County when it became an independent "member" organization of Catholic Charities of Portland.

In 1985, Catholic Charities acquired the Vegas Valley Shopping Center (St Vincent Plaza) to accommodate the expanding agency.

In the 1988, food box distribution began at CCS. There were 400 pre-made boxes of food distributed each week.

Portanova led the growth of the agency from $6 million in 1989 to its current position as the largest multi-service organization in Monroe County.

In 1995, the name Catholic Community Services of Nevada was changed to Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, reflecting our outreach to Clark, Esmeralda, Lincoln, Nye, and White Pine counties.

A Time To Rebuild Catholic Charities began the process of a five-year plan to rebuild St Vincent Plaza in 1996.

In 1998, a 120 room apartment building for individual residents was finished through a partnership with New York based HELP USA and a $2.7 million HUD Grant.

By the end of 2001, the construction of the new Catholic Charities Donald W. Reynolds St Vincent Plaza was complete.

In 2002, CCS celebrated 50 years of serving the community!

2004 - Catholic Community Services changed its name to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark to reflect its commitment to the charitable mission of the Archdiocese

For his contributions to Catholic Charities across the county and state, Jack was recognized in September 2010, when he was presented a Catholic Charities USA Centennial Medal.

Marlene joined CFC in January of 2013 following a volunteer experience where direct exposure to the challenges of poverty in Rochester convinced her to work in the 'for-purpose' rather than 'for-profit' world.

G Street Oasis opened in 2016.

2020 brought with it unforeseen challenges Catholic Charities adapted and overcame to deliver our services safely.

2021 Catholic Community Services of Lane County
