Job Summary and Qualifications
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Directs operations, programs and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements and to drive innovation.
Ensures adequate and qualified staffing for the department through timeliness and consistency of staff hiring, orientation, competency, training, performance feedback and performance management.
Develops and recognizes staff through coaching and regular feedback.
Serves as a role model for employee output and conduct.
Sets and executes department strategies to meet goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial, patient satisfaction and personnel management.
Proactively and regularly seeks feedback and input from internal and external sources. Evaluates and incorporates feedback into the department improvement and planning process to improve care delivery.
Oversees the financial operation for the laboratory by monitoring resource utilization, identifying variances and opportunities, and adjusting as needed to meet service and fiscal goals. Prepares Monthly Operating Review report.
Assures compliance with standards set forth by accrediting agencies: CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA and CMS. Develops and implements policies and procedures and verifies annual review of all policies and procedures.
Manages key vendor relationships and supply contracts in coordination with Laboratory Services and Supply Chain guidance.
Develops and implements a communication plan to ensure that department personnel are well informed. Fosters open communication by offering, encouraging, and accepting suggestions from staff regarding department operations
Directs and organizes operations through the appropriate, delegation of responsibilities and authority in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Monitors and evaluates the activities of the staff and provides management, coaching, guidance, delegation opportunities, and on-the-job training and re-training as necessary to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to policies and procedures
What qualifications you will need:
Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry required.
Master's Degree preferred
National Certification as a Medical Technologist required.
5 years or more of progressive laboratory management experience is required with complex laboratory operations, required.
Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred

About the Job:
The RN Nursing Supervisor represents nursing leadership by providing oversight of nursing care and hospital clinical operations in alignment with policies, procedures, standards, and regulations. Collaborates with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
The RN Nursing Supervisor will also be responsible for facilitating admissions and transfers into the hospital from other sites within SolutionHealth and external facilities; and will coordinate patient access for emergent, urgent or specialty treatment, applying clinical expertise to prioritize admissions; and will optimize bed assignments and patient flow.
What You'll Do:
Maintain contact with patient care areas, assessing staffing needs and clinical concerns. Support patient care needs, as well as nursing skills and knowledge. Allocate resources (supplies, materials) as needed by patient care areas.
Identify and resolves issues, notifies appropriate leaders as appropriate and contact the Administrator-on-Call when a significant event occurs. Provide support and direction in critical or emergent situations, allocating resources as necessary. Facilitate huddles after patient occurrences and debrief after critical events.
Act as a traffic controller in patient flow, assigning patients to the appropriate units from all points of entry, including but not limited to, internal and external transfers, emergency and urgent care departments, surgical and procedural areas, and direct admissions.
Efficiently manage the patient transfer process, collaborating closely and maintaining open channels of communication with transferring facilities to ensure a smooth transition for patients.
Communicate and collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams, to prioritize emergent, urgent, and specialty patient placements. Promote interdisciplinary communication to optimize patient outcomes and serve as a liaison between different departments to ensure seamless patient transitions.
Provide guidance and mentorship to the care teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Encourage professional growth and ensure staff are equipped with the necessary tools and resources.

Reconcile labor relations issues in the context of both existing labor agreements and desired future states of labor and employee relations

Responsibilities
Administers and manages the administration of labor contracts; provides interpretation of labor contracts to managers, employees and HR staff; oversees processes for review and resolution of employee grievances.
Advises managers and employees on sensitive labor relations matters, including grievance and arbitration procedures, performance issues and disciplinary actions; advises and assists managers in identifying labor relations issues and determining appropriate course of action.
Serves as a member of the Hospital's negotiation team in contract negotiations with recognized employee organizations. Maintains current knowledge of employee and labor relations trends, legal decisions, and statutory changes; conducts research necessary to support contract negotiations and employee relations. Uses appropriate negotiation strategies to develop bargaining goals and negotiate contracts consistent with the Hospital's mission, values and goals.
Provides contract interpretation to management and staff for investigation and advice on a full range of employee relations matters including informal and formal grievances, development of performance management plans, disciplinary issues, employee assistance referrals, and reduction in force issues.
Facilitates on-going communication and working relationships with employee representative organizations.
Provides information, advice and assistance to Human Resources department managers and staff regarding application of statutes, regulations, contracts and employee relations practices relating to their functional areas.
Acts as a member of the Human Resources department and participates in human resources support activities for the Hospital. Develops and recommends to the Director of Human Resources policies and procedures concerning employee relations and personnel practices.
Manages the process to investigate and respond to complaints from the National Labor Relations Board
May represent the Hospital in arbitrations and Employment Relations Board hearings related to unfair labor practice complaints.
Participates in the development and delivery of management training programs designed to advance the human resources skills of the lead
Performs other related duties as assigned.
