Performs venipunctures and capillary draws on Inpatients, Emergency Room patients, and Outpatients as needed. This is a 40-hour-per-week, benefits-eligible, day-shift position. This position requires working rotating weekends and holidays. At the direction of the Cytology Supervisor and the Cytology Medical Director, the Cytotechnologist III prepares and analyzes cytologic specimens to detect evidence of cancer &/or other pathologic conditions. They promote excellence in laboratory services and demonstrate professional growth and development while upholding professional standards. They participate as active members of the cytology team supporting the direction of the laboratory as defined by the Cytology Supervisor, Cytology Medical Director, and Anatomic Pathology Manager. This is a per diem, day-shift position. Responsibilities Perform cytologic analyses Review and assure correct specimen identification and fixation. Operate cytology processing and screening instrumentation according to established protocols. Microscopically evaluate and diagnose cytologic material and correlate cytologic findings with pertinent clinical and statistical data. Review cases as requested by the Pathologist or when significant discrepancies in interpretation exist. Provide technical advice and coverage to the preparation and processing area during times of short staffing in that area. Maintain standards of productivity as defined by the Cytology Medical Director and the Cytology Supervisor. If qualified per CLIA '88, participate in 10% rescreening of normal GYN cytologies for quality assurance purposes. Quality /Accountability Participate in improving the quality of the work of the lab using the quality improvement process. The cytology laboratory supports an active FNA ROSE service using telecytology technology for procedures in OR, Endoscopy, CT, IR, and clinics. Cytotechnologists assist with teaching medical students, pathology residents, and cytopathology fellows. The cytology section works closely with the world-renowned Dartmouth Laboratory for Clinical Genomics and Advanced Technology (CGAT) and has major funded research programs in informatics, including deep learning, related to cytology. Cytotechnologists collect specimens for research studies organized through the Norris Cotton Cancer Institute. At the direction of the Cytology Supervisor and the Cytology Medical Director, the Cytotechnologist III will analyze and interpret cellular changes caused by disease processes. Prepare samples for microscopic examination by processing and staining clinical gynecological and non-gynecological specimens. Perform thorough microscopic examination of the slides to detect and interpret cellular changes, document initial findings, and route to the cytopathologist for final diagnosis when necessary. Assist clinician colleagues with slide preparation during fine needle aspiration procedures and perform on-site adequacy assessments as needed. Participate and assist in research and development activities. Mentor and teach all aspects of cytology to residents, medical students, fellows, and new cytotechnologists. Triage specimen for expected molecular testing, flow cytometry, and soft tissue protocol based on morphology and preliminary assessment. Quality /Accountability Participate in improving the quality of the work of the lab using the quality improvement process. Participate in activities and protocols for research initiatives as the Cytology Medical Director approves. Plans, organizes, and manages section activities and personnel. This is a full-time, 40-hour/week day-shift position. This position requires performing work at our locations in Southern New Hampshire, including Concord, Manchester, and Nashua. Responsibilities Assists with the supervision of laboratory staff Assists with functions within lab through various means and practices, including, but not limited to, reviewing and maintaining section's operations to ensure an effective and efficient processing and reporting of workload, scheduling section workflow - adjusting staffing coverage to meet demands, evaluating the performance of section staff, seeking and providing avenues for them to upgrade their job skills, etc. Documents, implements, and maintains standard laboratory procedures for the lab, ensuring compliance with the CAP accreditation guidelines. Ensures high-quality test results through hospital and section quality assurance activities. Ensures the safety and security of property and section personnel. Responsible for the overall teaching program in the labs. Oversees technological improvements, validations, proper utilization and maintenance of equipment, and development of new test procedures in a specialized area. Ensures that managerial policies, practices, and objectives of the department are achieved within the lab. Assists in preparing, implementing, and monitoring the annual budget for equipment, supplies, and personnel. Assists in quality improvement program. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications * 5 years of laboratory experience including 2 years in a supervisory or lead position. * Master's degree preferred. * Familiarity with regulatory agencies affecting laboratories required. * CPT & ICD-9 coding experience and Medicare reimbursement knowledge desired. Hours 5 AM - 1:30 PM, with a weekend rotation. Under the direction of the Supervisor Laboratory Non-Technical, the Clinical Lab Assistant performs phlebotomy using various venipuncture techniques to collect blood directly from patients of all ages and is familiar with patient and specimens requirements for these tests; completes a variety of clinical support duties involved in identifying, collecting, receiving, and processing all types of clinical specimens for laboratory analysis, including preparation for transport to outside laboratories (when applicable); follows all safety, infection control and OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen guidelines. Education High school or equivalent (GED). Certification, Registration & Licensure None. Experience Phlebotomy training with a completed externship preferred. Phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting , clinical support experience in specimen processing preferred. Ability to perform in emergent or crisis situations. Responsibilities Obtains and processes venous and capillary blood samples required for laboratory analysis from patients of all ages upon request. Processes clinical specimens for delivery to laboratory departments and for pick-up by reference laboratories (when applicable). Performs all duties within assigned work blocks. Demonstrates compliance with corporate, departmental and job-specific requirements. Assists in the preventative maintenance and disinfection within the Specimen Processing area. Hours are full time 36 hours/week Under the direction of the Administrative Director, Cardiovascular Services, the Medical Director of Cardiac Catheterization Lab and the Cath Lab Nurse Manager, the Cath Lab Technologist will perform duties necessary for caring for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level. The Tech will provide procedural care for patients, ages 18 years old and up, undergoing cardiac procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. Education High School Diploma plus additional training. Related degree preferred. Certification, Registration & Licensure At time of hire: BLS for Healthcare Providers and ACLS Registration required to obtain: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) within 2 years and renewed as required to maintain.
