  • Physician Scientist/Clinician Investigator, Immunology and Cancer Immunotherapy

    Dartmouth-Hitchcock Concord 4.2company rating

    Lebanon, NH jobs

The Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC), Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth Health are seeking to jointly recruit junior faculty dedicated to pursuing careers in cancer research. Physician-scientists and clinician-investigators/clinical trialists from all clinical specialties who are pursuing basic, translational, or clinical cancer research are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants will be appointed as Assistant or Associate Professors in the appropriate department at Dartmouth and become full DCC members. Protected time for research and generous start-up packages will be provided. Members of DCC's Immunology and Cancer Immunotherapy (ICI) research program pursue basic, translation, and clinical research towards the development of novel small molecule-, antibody- and cell-based immunotherapies for cancer. Current ICI investigators conduct research aligned with one of three primary program themes: 1) Immune Checkpoints and Antibody Therapeutics; 2) Tumor Microenvironment and Myeloid Cells; and 3) T cells and Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy. Past ICI Program member accomplishments include the discovery of CD40L and VISTA, the creation of Medarex (the biotech start-up that brought ipilimumab and nivolumab to patients), and the earliest invention of an allogeneic CAR-T cell platform. As one of only 57 NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers and the only one north of Boston and east of Buffalo, DCC benefits from deep integration across the entirety of both Dartmouth and Dartmouth Health. With the successful renewal of its NCI designation in 2024, DCC and its Immunotherapy program are now poised to enter a second half-century of continuous NCI designation. In addition to the robust ICI program and clinical trials enterprise, DCC hosts three other NCI-funded Research Programs: Cancer Signaling, Genomes and Networks (SGN), Translational Engineering in Cancer (TEC) and Cancer Population Sciences (CPS). Reporting to their appropriate Section Chief and Department Chair, successful applicants will be board-eligible or board-certified in their cancer-related clinical specialty and eligible for medical licensure in both New Hampshire and Vermont.
