Cattlemens company history timeline

1968

In 1968 they opened the first Cattlemens and brought their rancher’s straightforwardness to the restaurant business.

1970

1973

His 1973 price freeze on beef inadvertently caused "The Wreck" - a severe crash in the cattle market and dramatic herd reduction.

1985

NCA members-of-the-day faced issues like packer concentration, frustration over the futures market and the 1985 Farm Bill's dairy herd buy-out.

1986

A beef checkoff program was finally passed on its third attempt, more than 10 years later, in 1986.

1994

Mozelle Roach operated the restaurant, as absentee owner until June 8, 1994 at which time a group of experienced international restaurateurs purchased the assets and business of the Cattlemen’s Steak House Inc.
