Founded in 1984 by Jerry F. Wilson, Cavalier opened its first manufacturing facility in Addison, Alabama.
The company first became publicly traded in 1986 on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol "CXV".
By 1987, Cavalier had acquired six operation plants owned by Brigadier Homes.
May of 1993 the Company opened an additional plant in Addison, Alabama.
On December 4, 1994, the Company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "CAV".
During 1994, the Company formed Quality Certified Insurance Services to sell various insurance products to retail purchasers of the Company s homes and to offer commercial insurance products to its exclusive dealers.
In December 1997, the Belmont Homes, Inc., whose shares were traded on The NASDAQ National Market under the symbol "BHIX", Belmont became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company.
