The pros of working at Cave City School was the family atmosphere among the administration, faculty and staff. The work environment was clean and comfortable. Working with youth is a joy.
In my experience, the cons were mainly true of the teaching profession in general, long hours beyond the school work day, grading student work or planning for their extracurricular activities.
My favorite benefit of working for the school system was the opportunity to plan for longer vacations in the summer and being able to spend more time with my children when they were on vacation.
Focusing on academics to a greater degree and less on extracurricular activities would enhance learning.
I prepared by doing a mock interview coordinated by the college before I graduated with my teaching degree.
What I liked best about the leadership of Cave City Schools was their willingness to listen to concerns and address them. Also, they backed the teachers when disputes arose.
Personally the most fulfilling aspect of working in the school was the interaction between myself and students.
in my experience, the compensation at Cave City School was below the industry average; however, since my retirement, the beginning compensation has been increased significantly, creating a greater average. I am happy for those who are still employed by the school.
At the time I retired, the demographic breakdown skewed toward more women in employment than men by a small number. I am not sure about today.
