Performs and leads general Security and Safety work in the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of applicable policies, procedures and regulations of Cayuga Health System as well as applicable Federal, State and Local laws to prevent loss due to accidents and incidents.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Protection of Life & Property
Uses proper lifting techniques during work tasks to prevent lifting injuries.
Escorts individual in a timely manner as needed to ensure their safety.
Is observant for unauthorized activities.
Maintains work area in a clean and safe manner on a daily basis.
Completes daily security log.
Submits a concise, clear, accurate and complete incident report in a timely manner
Responds in a timely manner to all calls.
Maintains continuous contact via phone or radio with subordinates and management
Is observant of all motor vehicle laws while operating a motor vehicle.
Locks and unlocks areas as prescribed or as requested
Assists patients, visitors and staff as needed
Is observant and engages with suspicious persons at the facility.
Remains highly visible during patrols
Patrols the facilities both inside and outside.
Performs Fire and Safety Checks:
Inspects fire extinguishers and other safety equipment
Inspects various directional and warning signs about the buildings and reports any need for replacement.
Inspects exit signs and reports any bulb replacement needed.
Keeps well informed and participates in all fire, safety and disaster drills.
Investigates incident of injuries involving visitors and ensures a report is prepared.
Takes proper action to correct safety and security shortcomings noted.
Check the outer portion of the buildings for safety hazards.
Inspects all elevators and interior fire escape stairwells to ensure that there are no obstructions and are well lighted. Reports any discrepancies.
Enforces all Federal, State and Local Laws, as well as all hospital Policies and Procedures:
Conduct preliminary investigations of complaints and incidents.
Answers all disturbances or criminal offense calls as requested.
Enforce parking and access control rules and parameters
Uses diplomacy to insure all persons are not offended or alienated.
Monitors compliance with safety and security procedures.
Facility Equipment Maintenance:
Basic mechanical ability to make minor repairs.
Analyze malfunctions and identify staff that can make repairs.
Attempts to repair before calling for assistance when appropriate.
Investigations of Incidents:
Investigates all incidents involving lost property, missing property, stolen property of all kinds, vandalism, all disturbances, missing patients, prank or obscene phone call, suspicious person, fire alarm, power failure, property damage and automobile accidents.
Prepares incident report on completion of investigation.
Notifies the proper individual and/or agency when appropriate.
Miscellaneous Activities:
Snow and ice removal.
Inspection of facility lighting.
Inspection of doors and stair wells.
Security of entrance doors.
Interdepartmental support.
Education and Development:
Completes all mandatory education requirements.
Attends departments, onsite and off-site in-service as required.
Attends department meetings.

Required Skills and Experience:
Education - High School Diploma / GED
Experience - Able to drive vehicle in all weather conditions. Minimum of one year experience involving Security preferred but not necessary. Ability to produce an accurate and well written report. Ability to work alone or as part of a team. Good people skills.
Licensure - A clean valid NYS Driver's license. Need to possess and/or ability to obtain a New York State Security Guard License and pass an FBI background check, no criminal convictions.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to assist with lifting patients. Able to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time. Ability to walk up and down stairs. Good vision and hearing. Rotate and work irregular shifts. Able to work out of doors in all types of weather.

Overview
Maimonides is seeking a Guard to serve as a liaison between patients, visitors, and staff while ensuring the safety and security of Medical Center property through enforcement of hospital policies and state laws; also oversees parking operations and fee collection as directed.
Responsibilities
* Patrols all areas of the Medical Center to prevent and detect fire, theft, vandalism, and other security concerns.
* Serves as a liaison between patients, visitors, and staff, providing guidance, support, and referrals as needed.
* Responds to patient and visitor concerns, escalating to appropriate departments and reporting to administration.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Operations and/or Operations Supervisor, the Security guard, individually and/or in a team, provides a secure environment for clients, residents, and staff.
Monitors, screens, and controls access to the facility; maintains a log of persons entering and exiting the facility; operates the door lock system from the security desk; and monitors video surveillance.
Secures the safety of the facility and the clients in the facility.
Assists in enforcing rules and regulations by monitoring client behavior and activities.
Assists clients with medication monitoring and performs medication record-keeping as required.
Maintains ongoing verbal and written communication with preceding and following shifts and documents all incidents and unusual occurrences.
Performs emergency response, including CPR and first aid, as required.
Completes and submits relevant reports and statistics in a timely fashion as required.
Attends supervision, staff meetings, and training as required.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
Security License required.
A minimum of one to two years of security experience is preferred.
Experience with the homeless, persons living with a mental health condition, and the substance abuse population is preferred.
Ability to obtain fire safety certification within six months required
CPR, First Aid, and AED-the ability to obtain within three months.
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Outlook, etc.) are a plus.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
Foreign languages are a plus.
Required to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, and to remain on post until relieved.

Responsible for the security and safety of the facility and clients in and around Hospitality House. Screens, monitors and oversees security and safety of all clients and staff in the building.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for security and safety at Hospitality House.
Reports all incidents using the incident reporting systems making sure the appropriate people are notified.
Handles all emergencies; performs crisis intervention as needed, calls 911 and other emergency numbers for back up as needed; tries to work out stressful situations as appropriate.
Responsible for client, fire, and health safety.
Answer front desk telephone and take messages as needed.
Directs visitors and handles all inquiries.
Receives incoming mail and packages and gives to Office Assistant.
Drive van as needed and on occasion will deliver packages.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED and previous experience working as a securityofficer is preferred. NY State Security certification required. Must obtain F-80 Fire Safety Coordinator Certification within 4 months of hire. Valid drivers license preferred. Excellent verbal communication skills required. Some knowledge of homeless and substance abuse population. In addition, the SecurityOfficer, shall perform any duties as required to meet the new needs
