Certifications BLS Physical Requirements Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs). Examples: Nurses, LPNs, and physical therapists. Job Duties and Performance Standards Functions as a Surgical Technician in 5 of the 6 specialties demonstrating responsibilities that include assisting in direct patient care in the operating room. Demonstrates appropriate aseptic technique, i.e. scrub, gown and glove, draping, counting and set up according to department policy Selects and prepares the appropriate supplies and equipment for the surgical cases. Operates all surgical equipment Organizes instrumentation and the sterile field. Anticipates needs of the surgeon, passes appropriate instruments, assists in exposure of the surgical field. Performs all surgical counts consistently, including the “safety count”. Performs wound closure (Subcutaneous and Skin) under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Overview Scrubs on surgical procedures and assists the professional nurse to create and maintain aseptic standards for a proper, safe surgical environment. Responsibilities 1.* Treatment and Patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served. 2.* Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. A. SCRUB DUTIES 3.* Carries out accepted scrub, gown and gloving techniques. 4.* Follows recommended sequence in organizing sterile supplies, instruments and sutures; understands specific uses of all instruments, equipment and supplies used for the surgical procedure. 5.* Sets up sterile tray; checks for completeness and proper functioning of equipment and supplies. 6.* Maintains neat and orderly back table and mayo tray to facilitate surgeon requests and provide patient care in a timely fashion. 7.* Carries out sponge, instrument and needle counts. 8.* Assists all scrubbed personnel in gowning and gloving. 9.* Hands instruments to the surgeon, has sponges, instruments, sutures, medications and solutions ready as needed. 10.* Saves and hands to circulating nurse all cultures and specimens taken during surgery. 11.* Assists in dressing the surgical site. 12.* Assists in the removal of all instruments and supplies for the disposition after surgery is completed. 13.* Assists with positioning, transfer and transport of patients as assigned. 14.* Utilizes established channels of communication to report significant changes in patient condition, problems with equipment, instrumentation, supplies, etc. B. Overview We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Medicine Technician (EMT) to join our Emergency Department team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of Physicians and Registered Nurses to perform direct patient care duties and assist with various medical procedures. As a vital member of our emergency care team, you'll help ensure efficient patient flow while providing excellent care to patients of all ages. Responsibilities * Obtain/record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry * Perform venipunctures, EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, and various point-of-care testing * Assist with orthopedic splinting, wound cleaning, and preparation * Assist physicians during various procedures/emergencies (trauma, cardiac, respiratory, etc.) * Collect and accurately label blood specimens * Perform 1:1 psychiatric monitoring when needed * Apply cardiac monitors and report observations to nursing staff * Assist with establishing IV catheters under nursing supervision * Transport patients safely within the facility and between facilities * Prepare equipment and treatment areas for procedures * Maintain clean patient care areas and properly stock supplies * Provide compassionate care with strong customer service focus Qualifications * High School Diploma or Equivalent * Current New York State EMT Certification * BCLS Certification required * ACLS Certification preferred (PALS if caring for children) * Minimum 2 years' experience in direct patient care (5 years preferred) * Strong technical skills for patient care procedures * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment * Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English Pay Range USD $27.01 - USD $32.01 /Hr.
