The licensed psychologist position provides high quality of care to a diverse high acuity, outpatient population of children, adolescents and families in Upstate's Child and Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Services (CAIOS) program. The program is expanding to provide intensive services to families with younger children with severe emotional and behavioral dysregulation. The program utilizes evidence-based treatments (DBT - A, DBT-C, PMT, and ACT). The full-time clinician will conduct psychological assessments, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy and parent coaching. The psychologist will provide consultation and coordination of care with schools and outside providers as needed. The Psychologist will contribute to the teaching and supervision of trainees in Child Psychiatry and Psychology. Psychologist will attend yearly hospital-required performance evaluations and will maintain Continuing Education credits. The psychologist will work closely within a multi-disciplinary, multi-department setting that includes psychiatrist, psychologist, clinical social workers, pediatricians, nutritionist and nursing. The Research Support Specialist will join the Solessio Lab in the Center for Vision Research. This visual neuroscience lab is focused on understanding how rod and cone photoreceptors in the retina process light information in normal and disease conditions. The laboratory integrates retinal electrophysiological techniques, transgenic mouse models, animal visual behavior, and mathematical modeling to investigate the neural and perceptual mechanisms underlying vision. The Research Support Specialist will be responsible for ordering lab equipment and reagents, assisting in the maintenance of the transgenic mouse colony, and performing experiments. Duties related to the mouse colony include breeding animals, PCR-genotyping, and accurate record keeping of the colony. Experimental duties revolve around the following set practices by Dr. Solessio, to provide assistance with electrophysiological experiments including electroretinograms and whole cell voltage and current clamp recordings, statistical data analysis and modeling. Other duties include retinal dissections, tissue sectioning, immunohistochemistry, and biochemical protein assays. Applicants with interest or experience in neuronal modeling are welcomed to apply.
