Leadership is really good at putting on a fake face.
This company runs on Marxism ideology. After four years of providing absolutely top notch proposal management services, CBT Architects terminated my employment after someone in my personal life that didn't like me made a post on Reddit to try to get me fired. The post said I was "transphobic", included contact information for my employer, and urged people to reach out to them and complain about me. I was fired the very next business day. No severance and they cancelled my health insurance immediately. I urge you hire/work for/collaborate with any other architectural firm that upholds more American values. There are many local firms that fit the bill.
Getting fired because who would want to work that hard to support the success of a bunch of communist sociopaths?
The company culture is quite toxic. They really push the DEI stuff which as we all know now is just reverse racism. Their expectations of staff are absolutely over-the-top. They don’t care about their employees, they only care about ways to cut corners with you and how they can save money by screwing you over. for example, I was an exemplary employee and had asked for a raise. I had data points to back up my request and while they didn’t give me what I asked for they gave me something. Then a couple months later they gave a .5% raise to the whole firm as cost-of-living had become more expensive. Period at first I was told I’d be receiving this increase. Then they had to tell me that I was ineligible for it because I had gotten a raise a couple months prior.
I enjoyed working with the person that I directly reported to, the marketing manager. She ran our department quite well. She has since left the firm, and I think this was in relation to how they disposed of one of her most valuable team members: me. The rest of the leadership really knows how to put on a fake face.
The interview process was much like any other firm. I would make sure to do your research about the company and ask questions about the leadership style and what kind of projects you’d be working on. I would also ask about job security. If you act like a communist, they’ll probably hire you
Salaries at CBT are across the board lower than local competing firms. There’s not much room for negotiation and also not much room to move up or grow. It seems they wanna limit that for cost savings purposes.
As I mentioned before, they are very passionate about DEI because it was required for many of our clients. As we now know this is just reverse racism. DEI has basically been outlawed in America, but I’m sure CBT is still keeping a scorecard of their minorities to appease their corrupt clients.
I found a lot of personal satisfaction in helping teams at CBT win projects, especially when the competition was well qualified. While I was there we were awarded a number of large portfolio enhancing projects. I’m retrospect, I wish I had dedicated my talents to a more respectable and honest firm.
