Position Summary Perform assignments, which require application of engineering education, training or experience and special knowledge or judgment of the mathematical, physical, or engineering sciences under the close supervision of a Professional Engineer. The assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent's job knowledge and abilities. Apply Engineering principles in discipline of competency, as assigned by supervisor with significant direction. Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities. Performs fundamental engineering support tasks such as updating instrument index, creating instrument specifications, making calculations, etc. Must be US National (or 10+ years capital project experience in the US). This will be an International position for the first year, then in Baton Rouge, LA, for a permanent full-time position. Expat package (with family) while overseas, permanent relocation provided to Baton Rouge. Responsibilities Prepares basic specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements with direction. Must learn/be able to read engineering drawings. Gathers and records information to be used for writing specifications. Prepares basic sketches and performs calculations in support of broader engineering activities. Maintains a continued awareness of project schedule and budget. Meets company Quality Assurance requirements. Keeps supervisor informed of progress Execute tasks with the mechanical discipline team lead in the FEED and detailed design phases of projects. Review equipment designs. Owner's engineer experience is a plus. Produce detailed design deliverables ensuring compliance with industry/client codes, work processes, and standards. Provide engineering support by answering technical questions and requests under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. Prepares basic sketches and performs calculations in support of broader engineering activities. Prepares basic specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements with direction. Review and resolve interdisciplinary design and technical issues to ensure the most effective and efficient design is selected under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. 10 + Years of applicable experience in Refinery, Petrochemical, and/or EPC Industries. Louisiana PE License strongly preferred. Can be waived for the right candidate, especially if the individual has steel experience. Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred. Basic knowledge of industry codes and standards (including API 610, API 650, API 660, API 661, ASME B31.3, ASME BPVC, etc.). HVEC Coordination experience is a plus. COMPRESS, CAESAR II, PV Elite, HTRI Software experience is a plus. Must learn/be able to read engineering drawings.
