    MRI Tech Schedule: Part-Time, 32 hours per pay period Under the direction of a radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs a variety of magnetic resonance imaging procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Obtains high quality scans, which are interpreted by a radiologist in the evaluation of disease or abnormality. Assists radiologist or other staff physicians in the performance of diagnostic MRI procedures whenever required. Accountabilities *All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise* 1. Demonstrate knowledge and skill to utilize MRI equipment, PACs, EHR and Radiology Information Systems, selecting proper technical factors based on procedure, diagnosis, age, size, weight and anatomical difference s and general health status of various age groups. 2. Utilizes proper MRI safety parameters and age appropriate immobilizers to product high quality MRI scans. Processes digital images. Critiques images for diagnostic quality. 3. Under the supervision of radiologist/physician demonstrates knowledge and ability to administer and document contrast according to standards for patients of all ages. Assists radiologist/ physician in the performance of diagnostic MRI procedures with patients of all ages performing support functions. 4. Demonstrates the ability and knowledge to identity educational needs, obtains patient history and provide information in an easily understood terminology with clear communication style about procedures and care to patients of various ages. Determine appropriateness of procedure based on the above. 5. Maintains equipment and facilities in a safe, clean condition. Reports equipment malfunctions. Demonstrates awareness of safety standards for self and assigned area. Performs all quality control checks as prescribed and maintains accurate QC logs. 6. Demonstrates high level of care, courtesy, and cooperation. Educates patients about their procedures and their families' comfort and needs are appropriately addressed in a dignified confidential manner. Follows organizations mission and values of customer service. Maintains effective communication with all members of the patient care team. 7. Competent and proficient in all imaging procedures , physical comfort measures and psychosocial issues when giving care to include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent , adult and geriatric patients. 8. Performs other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school graduate/GED, Graduate of an accredited School of Radiography, or equivalent (accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation - CAHEA) Skills: Must be able to cope with the stressful situations and handle deadlines in a demanding, fast paced medical environment. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skils. Must be competent in the use of facility communication systems and equipment (e.g. phones, fax machines, RIS/PACS). Must maintain proficiency in venipuncture and IV contrast safety. Years of Experience: None required License: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and certified in Radiography (R ) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), or RT (ARRT) (R) and seeking eligibility for the MR credential. Certification: Must be CPR certified WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: NA Physical Demands: Imaging technologists must be able to tolerate possible exposure to radiation and electrical hazards, bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluids. Must be able to move, lift, or carry equipment or materials weighing up to 10 lbs. 10% of the time, and with assistance move patients up to 200 or more lbs. 40% of the time. Operates the G. E., Siemens CT and Philips CT scanners in order to produce quality exams. Rotates through CT rooms 1, 2, and 3 areas as needed. Performs routine examinations in accordance with established standards and techniques to maintain an acceptable rate of productivity workflow. Checks all orders for accuracy and direction. Determines position of patient and procedure protocols for best possible results on all CT scans. Records type, number of films and protocol on the requisition to provide accurate technical data. Assures proper identification of all films as required for medical-legal standards. Enters orders in Cerner Electronic Medical Record for all exams requested. Informs Lead Technologist of equipment malfunction or need for adjustment to ensure properly Completes and charges all exams as requested. Assists other technologists when necessary to maintain productivity. Properly uses radiation protection and shielding material to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines. Remains abreast of new developments in the field of radiology/CT and participates in professional organizations in order to provide high quality technical support. Communicates procedure to the patient so that they are well informed about what service they are receiving. Ensures that all appropriate information and films are in Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS). Maintains an awareness of patient's physical and emotional condition and recognizes and reports adverse signs to physicians or supervisory personnel to provide high quality patient care. Keeps work area neat and orderly and maintains inventory of supplies in assigned area in order to facilitate the efficiency of the department. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma required. Satisfactory completion of an American Medical Association Council on Medical Education approved school of Radiologic Technology required. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required. Licensed by the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety required. Must remain alert to technical developments and be willing to adapt to them. Must have good oral/written communication skills, good customer service skills, and have the ability to multitask Ability to effectively position patients for the best results and adapt techniques for each patient. Weekends (every other weekend) CT Technologist Responsibilities: Using computerized tomography equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients internal organs and tissues. Appropriately positioning patients to scan specific areas of their bodies. Performing regular warm-up sequences on the CT scanner to prolong the life of the X-ray tubes. Sterilizing radiologic equipment to ensure the safety of patients. Correctly interpreting doctors' written scanning instructions. Administering radiocontrast agents to patients to enhance the visibility of internal organs and tissues. Evaluating CT scans to determine whether they are of good technical quality. Explaining scanning procedures to patients and providing reassurance and support as required. Other duties, as assigned. CT Technologist Requirements: High school diploma, Bachelors or associate's degree in radiologic technology. State license to work as a CT technologist, is a requirement. Proven experience working as a CT technologist. CPR and BLS certification. Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. The ability to stand for extended periods. Strong technical skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills. Required Citizenship / Work Permit / Visa Status US Citizens & Green Card Holders Must-Haves High school diploma, Bachelors or associate's degree in radiologic technology. State license to work as a CT technologist, is a requirement. Proven experience working as a CT technologist. CPR and BLS certification.
