Ultrasound Technologist (PRN)
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic medical sonography
examinations using high-frequency sound waves to visualize internal organs, tissues, and vascular structures. The technologist ensures high-quality imaging to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions while providing compassionate patient care and maintaining patient safety. This is a Part-time role based in Frisco, Texas.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
• Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain diagnostic images with proper positioning and technique.
• Review patient history and clinical indications to tailor imaging procedures appropriately.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the procedure.
• Evaluate image quality and make adjustments to optimize diagnostic value.
• Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to provide accurate and timely imaging results.
• Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and exam logs within the PACS/RIS systems.
• Prepare and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper function and cleanliness.
• Adhere to infection control, radiation safety, and compliance standards.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain certification and knowledge of emerging techniques.
Qualifications
• Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Certification: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography).
• Experience: 1+ year of clinical ultrasound experience preferred; new graduates considered.
Skills
Proficiency in abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, small parts, and/or other specialty imaging.
Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize normal vs. abnormal findings.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and healthcare teams.
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Working Conditions
• Busy outpatient imaging center.
• Requires standing/sitting for extended periods, moving/lifting patients, and operating imaging equipment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to assist and position patients, including lifting up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Physical stamina to stand for hours, bend, lean, squat, and/or sit as needed throughout the day.
Manual dexterity to operate ultrasound equipment and computer systems.
Good vision and hearing for accurate assessment of images and patient communication.

Insight Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate PRN Vascular Ultrasound Technologist to join our dynamic team. This role primarily involves performing vascular ultrasound procedures in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The ideal candidate will have expertise in arterial duplex, venous duplex, ankle-brachial indices (ABIs), renal vascular ultrasound, carotid ultrasound and vein mapping for venous reflux.

DESCRIPTION: Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates all vascular ultrasound equipment (e.g., Zonare, Siemens Sequoia, Accuson) to produce high-quality images for arterial and venous duplex exams, ABI assessments, renal vascular ultrasound, carotid ultrasound and vein mapping for venous reflux.
Positions and handles patients with professionalism and care, ensuring their comfort and safety during examinations. Maintains awareness of patients' physical and emotional conditions, reporting any adverse signs to physicians or supervisory personnel.
Completes and charges all exams performed. Ensures that efficient patient workflow, timely service, and special patient needs are maintained to ensure patient and physician satisfaction. Completes all necessary paperwork related to examinations, including clinical information and patient history, ensuring proper identification of images and maintaining accurate records.
Transmits images and documents to Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS). Interacts in a professional manner with patients, visitors, and hospital staff regarding the services and operation of the Ultrasound Section. Performs other duties as assigned.

Sets up radiographic suites and ensures that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment/supplies are present and available
Prepares and administers contrast material orally, by enema, or under close supervision of radiologists, intravenously but not independently; as required by procedure or patient's condition, monitors vital signs (blood pressure and heart rate), and reports any significant changes to a radiologist
Lifts, positions, pushes, and transfers patients, supplies, and/or equipment as needed
Performs related clerical duties such as sending images to PACS, archiving images, and case editing of computer requests and reports
As required, maintains records and enters patient information into the computer through the use of the Radiology Veterans Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) package
Qualifications
English language proficiency
Registered or registry eligible in Sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), shall have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the specialized modality in a Level 1 hospital setting, and shall be able to work with minimal or no supervision
Note - Student internship and training time spent in a radiology setting does not count toward the two (2) years of experience
Experience with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), experience with Agfa PACS is preferred but not required
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
