About the Position - Peer Coach Driver
The Peer Coach Driver will function as a role model to peers, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills. They will serve as an advocate, providing supportive information and peer support for members in outpatient and inpatient settings. Using their recovery and/or work-related experience, the Peer Coach Driver performs a wide range of tasks to assist peers of all ages with regards to regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process. Are you looking for an exciting career with a nationally known company and industry leader? AmeriGas Propane, the largest distributor of propane in the United States, is searching for an energetic and customer service-oriented person to join us as a Transport Driver.
Responsibilities:
As a Transport Driver you will drive a tanker truck (11,400 gallon capacity) to pick up propane at the supply point (e.g. refinery, pipeline terminal, storage facility) and deliver it to area AmeriGas facilities. The driver will make four to five pick-ups and deliveries per day, driving an average of 500 miles per day and working up to 14 hours per day. Approximately 80 percent of the driver's time is spent driving or waiting in line at the supply point. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Drive the tanker truck to pick up propane at the refinery and deliver to area AmeriGas facilities; approximately 45 minutes is required to load or unload the truck.
• Attach terminal hoses to the truck connections to pump propane into the tanker.
• Use permanent hoses attached to the filling ports or the hoses stored in the truck to unload the tanker. The hoses stored on the truck come in two sizes: 20 feet long, three inches in diameter; and 19 feet long, 1½ inches in diameter.
• Perform twice daily truck inspections.
• May climb ladders at some AmeriGas facilities to check gauges at the top of the bulk tanks.

This position is responsible for driving gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination from base to established destination(s).
Unloading and picking up specific product at predetermined docks, yards and or warehouses
Fueling tractor and trailer(s) upon return to base and unhooking trailer(s) at specified location
Coordinating with Warehouse Management on equipment prioritization and utilization
Inspecting truck for defects before and after shift and submits report indicating truck condition
Checking loads after loading process to verify adequate use of load locks, straps, and bulkheads
Maintaining driver log according to D.O.T. regulations
Collecting or picking up empty cases and ice cream racks or rejected or unsold product if required
Performing other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must possess a Class A CDL
Must have one year driving experience with a clean driving record for past 39 months
Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which are subject to evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to read and communicate in English sufficiently to converse with the general public and respond to official inquiries

Job Duties:
- Drives both gas and diesel vehicles ranging from ½ ton vans to semi-tractor trailer rigs weighing 80,000 lbs.
- Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required by Federal law
- Supervises and trains assigned inmate workers
- Closely monitors work crew activities and enforces security practices and daily sanitation in the area of responsibility in accordance with ADCRR policies, procedures, and best practices
