The PatientAccess Rep III is an advanced level position and is expected to have a high level of proficiency in all department duties and be competent to fill in on an interim basis in any department within Admissions with minimal refresher training. The PAR III performs all admissions activities for pre-admit and face-to-face registration of patients presenting to any registration area for service. Facilitates patientaccess to Cedars Sinai Medical Center and secures all demographic and financial patient registration information, including the following: Registration, Pre Registration, insurance verification, Third Party Liability (TPL) screening, Medi-Cal / Medicare eligibility verification, Workers Compensation eligibility, and securing cash deposits (co-pays, deductibles, cash packages). Provides superior customer service through all personal and professional interactions with all customers within the Cedars-Sinai Health System.
What are the Primary Duties & Responsibilities?
* Performs all admissions activities for pre-admit and face-to-face registration of patients presenting to the Main Admissions and/or outpatient areas for treatment
* Obtains financial clearance and determines patient's correct financial classification. Performs insurance verification electronically, telephonically, DDE or product website use on Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, PPO or commercial products.
* Performs proper system search to secure a medical record number or assign a new one without duplication.
* Performs proper selection of physician. Recognizes privileging issues (physician suspensions). Knows how to handle and resolve physician privilege and suspension issues.
* Demonstrates strong patient interviewing skills. Interacts with patients and performs job duties with sensitivity and attention to the patient population(s) being served
* Competent to independently handle routine / frequent inquiries from patients, patientrepresentatives and insurance companies. Escalates issues appropriately.
* Demonstrates collection skills. Able to determine and explain patient financial obligation (deductibles). Meets or exceeds cash collection goals.
* Interacts with physicians and specialty departments to assure accurate intake of information required for registration and account adjustments
* Demonstrates the ability to compile reports upon request through all available resources.
* Clears RQI worklists daily and assists others when necessary.
* Is competent in ALL areas of their registration area and demonstrates the ability to assist anywhere in their respective department.
* Productivity requirement: Completes no less than 30 registrations per shift on average. (may vary by admissions area)
* Productivity requirement: Handles no less than 10 inquiries per day from patients, physicians, family members and internal staff.
* Knows and adheres to state, federal and regulatory requirements, and CSMC policy specific to the admissions department.
Qualifications
Education, Experience & License/Certification Requirements:
* High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Hospital Administration or equivalent preferred.
* Three (3) years of healthcare experience working in PatientAccess or Revenue Cycle department, physician office, healthcare insurance company, and/or other revenue cycle related roles required.
* Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred
* Experience answering multi-line and high-volume telephone calls in a healthcare setting or related field preferred. Medical or healthcare call center experience preferred.

What will you be doing in this role?
The Nutrition Care Representative (NCR) act as an ambassador and facilitator of patient food services on the patient care unit. Responsibilities include processing, validating, and interpreting physician diet prescriptions as conveyed by nursing personnel, collection and correction of patient menu selections in conformance with the physician's diet order, addressing and following up on concerns and issues related to patient satisfaction, and handling routine clerical, data entry, and nutrition care responsibilities on the unit. Collaborates with leadership staff to improve the quality of service and nutrition care service provided to patients.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Review and modify patient menus by adding, deleting or substituting food items in accordance with physician's and dietitian's orders and restrictions.
* Obtain menu selection at the patient's bedside or over the phone assuring compliance to the physician's diet order and departmental guidelines for menu correction.

The Patient Account Representative is responsible for working with insurance companies, state agencies, and patients or parents in resolving account balances. Will research insurance billing and adjustment identification to ensure proper account resolution. Must have knowledge of all aspect of insurance claim filing and collection regulations, and understand payer remittance documents as well as regulatory guidelines or contracts that result in a reduction of billed charges. The Coordinator drives compliance with JMHPP policies and assists in the facilitation of the development of standardized patientaccess procedures to promote best practice operations and utilization. This individual provides communication to the practice operations team to ensure timely and accurate scheduling, standardized templates, and responsive template management processes. The Coordinator provides recommendations to the Manager, PAO on streamlined workflows to promote optimization of an open access operating model. The Coordinator provides up-to-date reporting to provide to physicians on progress and performance on metrics such as historical visit type utilization and durations, existing template structures and functionalities, scheduling workflows, scheduling instructions, provider panel sizes etc. This individual works with department leadership on course correction if any of these metrics are not being met or exceeded. The Coordinator assists with facilitating the implementation of programmatic initiatives and the development of policies and procedures to drive a best-practice open-access ambulatory system.
This individual partners with system providers and practice operators to ensure optimal access strategies are implemented and appropriately monitored. This role collaborates with the other Coordinator(s), PatientAccess optimization to execute tasks and reports to the Manager, PatientAccess Optimization.
