The Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation is seeking PhysicianAssistant to join our Primary Care Department.
The PhysicianAssistant is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process, consultative services, inter and intra departmental liaison, education, leadership and patient care management across the health care continuum including preventative care, acute care through discharge, and ambulatory care environments. Our PhysicianAssistant's practice incorporates both independent decision-making abilities and collaboration with the board certified/eligible physician to provide expert care to the patients. This role enhances competency skills through continuing education programs. This role has the ability to provide care to special patient population and those with diverse cultural background. Will be responsible to the physician partners and/or supervising physician and the Director of Clinical Operations/designee and functions as an integral part of the medical team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
PhysicianAssistant will independently obtain a relevant health and medical history.
Performs a physical examination based on age and history and dictates a progress note if needed with the appropriate physicians.
Performs and/or orders preventive and diagnostic procedures based on the patient's age and history.
Help the physicians provide screening, consultation and answers to incoming questions from referring physicians.
Identifies health and medical risk factors.
Provides and documents patient, family and significant other education and outcomes, including smoking, cessation, pneumococcal vaccination and other patient specific subjects, utilizing effective teaching methods.
Evaluates and assesses patient/family readiness to learn; individualized learning ability; provides age specific education; initiates and reinforces as needed.
Educational Requirements:
Master of Science Degree in PhysicianAssistant studies
License/Certification requirements:
CA PhysicianAssistant license required.
Drug Enforcement Administration certificate required.
National Commission on Certification of PhysicianAssistants (NCCPA) required.
Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
Experience:
Minimum one (1) year PhysicianAssistant experience in a relevant clinical area strongly preferred, e.g., orthopedics, Urgent Care or Primary Care

The Smidt Heart Institute is home to a distinguished team of experts who are setting the bar for cardiovascular care in the United States. The Institute unites 16 centers and programs to diagnose and treat the full spectrum of heart and vascular conditions for all patients, from infants to those with advanced disease. Compassionate care is integrated with an agile research enterprise, giving patients access to pioneering treatments. The PhysicianAssistant (PA-C) provides services to cardiac surgical patients. The PA-C assists the supervising surgeon in the operating room, acts as the first or second assistant, endoscopically harvests veins or arteries for CABG procedures, robotic procedures, transplant surgeries, opens and closes the chest, cannulates or decannulates, Assists or performs bedside procedures within the scope of service, etc.
The Senior PA will work primarily in the operating room. The senior PA will work at Cedars-Sinai and Tarzana Medical Center, a Cedars-Sinai affiliate.
Ensures all cases are added to the team census.
Discuss preoperative plans with Cardiac surgery Fellow and Surgical Attending.
Review of peri-operative lab results and imaging.
Addresses pre-operative issues if called, regarding updated H and Ps. medication question.
Assists the nursing team with preparing room and patient for surgery.
Assist with patient positioning, pulling up patient data and scans in OR, Ultrasound prep for vein/artery conduit, assist with scrub and draping of patient. At the end of case if first or second assist, help with dressings over incisions and tearing down drapes. Assist with positioning patient on ICU bed
Functions as an assistant to the surgeon in the operating room during surgical procedures.
Surgical first assist including sternotomy, cardiopulmonary bypass cannulation and decannulation, assist with sternal wire closure, chest closure.
Surgical second assist when asked (heart hold only when no other RN has been identified)
Performs Endoscopic Vein Harvesting and/or Radial Artery Harvesting in the operating room - If not a privilege, work on Preceptor/Proctor Plan to complete.
Manages chest opening and closure, including multiple-layer surgical wound closures under the direction of the surgeon.
First assist Robotic cases with a surgeon if there are no other CABGs planned that day. This includes before docking cannulation, closure, dressing incision and moving patient to bed.
Respond to ECMO and assist with ECPR.

Our Cedars-Sinai South Bay Surgeons Group offers the complete spectrum of general, oncologic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical procedures for our patients. Our mission is to provide compassionate and comprehensive surgical care to the community. Our Surgical PhysicianAssistant will work in a multi-specialty group of fourteen (14) physicians covering advanced general surgery, surgical weight loss, breast cancer, surgical oncology and hepatobiliary. Along with two (2) other Surgical PA's, you will split abnormal labs (reviewing, discussing with physicians, ordering, etc).
Key responsibilities include:
In clinic, will conducting post ops and follow-ups for the general surgeons.
Serve as a first assist in the operating room at least 3 days a week performing lumps and bumps removals, closing incisions, tractions, etc.
Will assist in laparoscopic and robotic procedures.
Gathering comprehensive medical data, including health history, and analyzing physical examination results.
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as urine, blood tests, imaging, and assessing deviations from normal.
Perform pre-op procedures and flag physician in-charge when potential issues arise during pre-op assessment.
Perform non-surgical weight loss management under the direction of physician.
Perform vitamin monitoring and assist with vitamin supplementation education.
Performing therapeutic procedures such as bladder catheterization, instillation of bladder medications, postoperative wound care, pelvic floor biofeedback, transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation, bladder Botox injections, and other duties within the scope of practice.
Developing and implementing patient management plans, documenting consult notes, progress notes, and contributing to continuity of care.
Educating and advising patients on adhering to prescribed therapeutic regimens.
Collaborating with other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.

The Surgical PhysicianAssistant plays a crucial role in Cedars-Sinai Medical Group's commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services efficiently. Working in collaboration, with our physicians and staff, the Surgical PhysicianAssistant will share responsibility for the well-being of our patients.
Our Cedars-Sinai South Bay Surgeons Group offers the complete spectrum of general, oncologic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical procedures for our patients. Our mission is to provide compassionate and comprehensive surgical care to the community. Our Surgical PhysicianAssistant will work in a multi-specialty group of fourteen (14) physicians covering advanced general surgery, surgical weight loss, breast cancer, surgical oncology and hepatobiliary. Along with two (2) other Surgical PA's, you will split abnormal labs (reviewing, discussing with physicians, ordering, etc).
Key responsibilities include:
* In clinic, will conducting post ops and follow-ups for the general surgeons.
* Serve as a first assist in the operating room at least 3 days a week performing lumps and bumps removals, closing incisions, tractions, etc.
* Will assist in laparoscopic and robotic procedures.
* Gathering comprehensive medical data, including health history, and analyzing physical examination results.
* Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as urine, blood tests, imaging, and assessing deviations from normal.
* Perform pre-op procedures and flag physician in-charge when potential issues arise during pre-op assessment.
* Perform non-surgical weight loss management under the direction of physician.
* Perform vitamin monitoring and assist with vitamin supplementation education.
* Performing therapeutic procedures such as bladder catheterization, instillation of bladder medications, postoperative wound care, pelvic floor biofeedback, transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation, bladder Botox injections, and other duties within the scope of practice.
* Developing and implementing patient management plans, documenting consult notes, progress notes, and contributing to continuity of care.
* Educating and advising patients on adhering to prescribed therapeutic regimens.
* Collaborating with other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.
* Assisting in triaging in-basket messages, including patient referrals, and communicating with pre- and post-procedure patients about their care.
* Performing other assigned duties.
Please note: This groups works out of two (2) hospitals, Little Company of Mary Torrance and Torrance Memorial Hospital.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
* Master's degree in physicianassistant studies accredited by ARC-PA.

Care for critically ill patients in our 24-bed Surgical, Trauma and Transplant ICU.
Essential Duties:
+ Responsible and accountable for the application of the care plan, supervision of clinical practice, research involvement, consultative services, inter and intradepartmental liaison, education, leadership, and patient care management across the healthcare continuum including preventative care, acute care through discharge, and ambulatory care environments.
+ Collaborates with diverse healthcare professionals to deliver outstanding patient care using independent decision-making skills.
+ Reports to the Medical Director, the Lead Nurse Practitioner, and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and functions as an integral part of the medical team.
+ Supplies personalized care that aligns with CSHS philosophies, encompassing care consistent with Standards of Care/Practice, the Nursing Care Provision Plan, the Patient Care Provision Plan, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan, the Standards of Professional Organizations, Code of Conduct, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
+ Provides care to special patient populations and those with diverse cultural backgrounds.
+ Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to age and developmental achievements of the population(s) served, which may include adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

**Qualifications**
**Education:**
+ Graduate of an accredited PhysicianAssistant (PA-C) program approved by the California Board of Registered.
**Experience:**
+ Minimum of two years of experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), preferably in a surgical, trauma, or transplant setting.
+ Experience with critically ill trauma and solid organ transplant patients is highly desirable.
**Licensure/Certifications Requirements:**
+ Current, unrestricted California PA-C License.
+ National PA Certification.
+ Current DEA License.
+ Current ACLS required.
