Cell leader job description

Leads team members to identify, manage, and execute the plant's process improvement opportunities. Manages production staff to attain production and quality goals. Identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues. Ensures production resources including materials, equipment and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team oriented work force in order to improve business results.

Monitor production to ensure that quality, productivity, and cost standards are maintained.Provide employee training to ensure that employees are performing job responsibilities effectively.Assist with the supervision of sanitation operations as necessary to promote and maintain a clean and food safe environment.Enforce plant rules, regulations and procedures.Evaluate subordinate performance, communicate with employees, and provide information for work performance improvement.Participate in the support of plant and company safety programs, promoting and maintaining a high level of awareness and adherence to defined employee safety requirements such as lock-out/tag-out, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, etc.

High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelors' degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, Food Science, Agricultural Sciences, or other Natural Science degrees preferred. Other degrees will be considered.Two years+ supervisory experience preferred.Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.SAP experience preferred.Understanding of manufacturing processes and loss Knowledge of GMP'sWorking knowledge of plant equipment and safety Ability to distinguish normal/abnormal Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.Previous experience in a food-processing or manufacturing environment is a plus.Ability to work weekends and/or shift work with a strong work ethic and employment history.A self-motivated individual that is able to multi-task and lead others.

The Indiana Production Facility (IPF) is located in the small town of Crawfordsville, Indiana in the middle of Montgomery County, which is about 45 minutes west of Indianapolis. IPF is the largest US manufacturing facility throughout all of Acuity Brands. If you enjoy the outdoors you could visit the surrounding state parks such as Turkey Run and Shades State Parks or rent canoes at Clements Canoes Outdoor Center. These parks are great for activities that include boating, canoeing, hiking, trails, picnics, and camping. You can also visit a local game at Wabash College, or even venture to Purdue/DePauw as both are only a 30-minute commute.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

* Supervises 8-20 hourly employees in a manufacturing environment.
* Drives safety, quality and productivity performance in accordance with Lean principles, standard work and customer requirements.
* Determines daily manpower and work assignments for employees to adjust for fluctuations in demand.
* Approves payroll, administers corrective action and discipline as needed.
* May be scheduled on shifts and weekends without additional management support.

Education (minimum education required)

High School Graduate

Bachelor of Science

Bachelor of Engineering

Experience (minimum experience required)

* 2+ years in a manufacturing environment, preferably high volume
* Previous supervisory experience
* High degree of comfort with computer usage
* Able to read, write and speak English
* Experience in problem solving, communication and conflict resolution
* Experience with Lean principles and exposure to Kaizen and continuous improvement events is helpful
* High School diploma or equivalent
* Ability to stand 10-12 hours per day, lift, push, pull up to 40 pounds frequently.
* Able to see, hear and comprehend in a noisy, environment.
* Able to tolerate temperature ranges of 40 - 90 degrees F
* Ability to work other shifts and/or weekend hours

What You'll Do

As an Production Fabricator, you'll be part of our team located in Willard, OH.

You'll get to:

* Oversee production activities, including:
* Assembly work and product maintenance as needed
* Visual inspections of both in-process and finished product
* Requests for tools, parts, and hardware supply from the appropriate personnel
* Identification of quality issues and proper tagging for hold or quarantine process
* Safe and appropriate use of hand tools, testing equipment, and hardware fixtures
* Appropriate work station set up
* Line - product changeovers
* Collaborate with Supervisors and assist department with daily tasks as needed
* Recognize concerns and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
* Ensure all stock and work areas are kept neat, organized, and stocked appropriately at end of shift
* Maintain quality and production standards following all ISO and MTD procedures which may include: attribute and torque monitoring, statistical process control (when required), double check verification, control plan verification, bill of material & specification sheet verification

* Ability to walk, stand, and periodically lift up to 40 lbs. for a minimum of eight hours daily
