Visionary Broadband seeks a qualified individual to fulfill the role of Field Technician - Tower Technician. This full-time, hourly position will join the wireless team at Visionary Broadband, a division of Visionary Communications, Inc., one of the top service providers in the region. Job Overview: As a Tower Technician, you are responsible for maintaining the stability of towers to provide the best network services for the customers. Tower technicians are often out in the field to conduct repairs and installations for the customers, inspecting the area's condition, and reporting structural inconsistencies and defects. The ideal candidate will have excellent mechanical and electrical knowledge to resolve issues immediately and create resolution manuals to prevent reoccurrence and ensure the safeness and security of line towers. Duties and Responsibilities: Install equipment on Tower Assembling electronic equipment in racks/cabinets, plumbing all RF, wiring Telecom Installation of RF/ground/power/telecommunications cabling. Completion of client and company checklists, photos, and test results typically communicated to management (emails, uploads to FTP, Web Interface, etc.) Maintain network documentation with a very high level of accuracy Completing work that is assigned while on 24-hour “on call” duty to resolve any tower-related or customer issues Qualifications: A qualified candidate must possess the following skills, or have equivalent experience and/or qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Telecom experience preferred Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Good knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, as well as ability to quickly learn and work within proprietary computer applications. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem solving abilities Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to drive a company vehicle. Flexibility to work outside of standard 8am-5pm hours and be willing to travel on a weekly basis. Must be willing to travel within the region 75% of the time. Physical Requirements: Work at Tower heights for duration of day. Lift and carry up to and above 75 pounds. Utilize fine motor coordination, clear speech, and good visual acuity. Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity Continually required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl Exposure to moving mechanical parts Exposure to high, precarious places Exposure to outside weather conditions Visionary is often on the cutting edge of new technology deployments and works in a multitude of different situations with many different entities.
