Under the direction of the Cement Terminal Manager, the Control Room Operator must maintain the cement terminal in a neat and orderly manner. The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring all trucks being received into inventory to ensure no leakage is taking place and that customer trucks are loaded in a clean orderly manner. As well as monitoring all systems for changes and perform routine maintenance on equipment. Opportunity Summary The Remote Operating Center (ROC), located within the NAES performance Center located in Houston (Woodlands), Texas-supports the remote startup, operation, and monitoring of a variety of power generation technologies and configurations at the company's 24/7 ROC. The ROC's scope will expand to include additional remote assets as they are added. Responsibilities include executing real-time control of various gas turbine technologies, performing startup and shutdown procedures, responding to dispatch instructions, and coordinating with on-site personnel to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations that support grid stability and energy delivery. Your scope of responsibility as an ROC Control Room Operator includes the following primary functions: Operations and Monitoring While working onsite at the Remote Operating Center (ROC), operate, start, stop, and monitor Reciprocating Engines, Wind Turbines, Photo Voltaic Units and Gas Turbines. Compensation This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $40.52 - $52.00. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions This position is primarily based onsite in a Remote Operating Center, an office environment. Work involves extended periods of sitting while performing computer- and controls-based tasks, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. However, travel to power plants may periodically be required. While on-site in a power plant environment, duties may include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and working from elevated platforms and walkways. The role may also require entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, high heat near equipment, noise, and varying outdoor weather conditions. Some tasks necessitate the use of protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, and ear protection. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility. Work Schedule The ROC Control Room Operator works a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, consisting of four days on followed by four days off, alternating between day and night shifts. This position will also occasionally necessitate extended working hours and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Duties include maintaining revenue, inventory, materials, quality assurance/control, human resources, and information systems records. Makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. Required to meet certain certifications in asphalt operations. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks such as major maintenance and repair. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to Superintendent of the asphalt plant operations. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Supervise a crew of 2 to 5 employees at times depending on the schedule. Must be able to communicate to top management, suppliers, vendors, safety compliance officers and customers to facilitate a safe workplace while performing daily supervision of personnel and equipment. Must have the ability to produce quality product in a timely manner. Must have the knowledge of proper asphalt production and all equipment associated with everyday operations. Must have the ability to lead people and keep daily job cost records, quantities, cost and employee time records. Must be able to conduct safety huddle and toolbox safety meetings with the crew. Minimum Qualifications & Training: Two or more years of asphalt plant operations. Ability to abide by and communicate precise instructions and be well versed in fall prevention, protection regulations and practices. Have knowledge in the construction field and safety regulations that are associated with plant operations such as electrical control panels, circuits and breaker panels. Must be a reliable/trustworthy team player. Maintain a good attendance and safety record. Be willing to work long hours associated with this position. Ability to work weekends and some nights. Tasks Essential to Job Functions: Occasional standing, walking, climbing, and working at heights required. Ability to work long periods of time while sitting, walking, climbing, and performing maintenance duties. Have a working knowledge of electrical components and hazard detection and prevention. Ability to manage everyday operation and instruct of safety sensitive issues.
