Job Responsibilities * Examines and diagnoses vehicle problems, and repairs according to generally accepted methods * Discusses extensive or difficult in-depth repairs with Terminal Manager, and/or Supervisor * Demonstrate and enforces CEMEX safety policies and regulations to all mechanics (i.e. lockout tagout policies, hazard assessment) * Make sure shop and all repairs are in compliance with OSHA regulations * Performs routine scheduled maintenance outlined on PM checklist sheets * Plans all routine work procedures * Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical components for removal, repair or inspection * Removes components for repair of replacement such as, but not limited to: alternators, starters, water pumps, radiators, condensers, compressors, clutches, transmissions, differentials, wheel assemblies, brakes, drivelines, gearboxes, pump, rollers, etc * Disassembles components, inspects parts for wear, and determines cause of failure * Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic systems, and components * Inspects and replaces parts such as clutches, wheel seals, brake linings, drums, bearings, and all other components as described above * Overhauls and rebuilds serviceable components * Some regional traveling required to repair company equipment * Diagnoses and repairs electrical systems and circuitry in accordance with acceptable industry standards * Performs occasional cutting and welding utilizing both gas and electric welding equipment * Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wiper blades * Enters work orders on system for equipment inventory purposes * Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times * Wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds * Meet or exceed company safety standards * Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent * 3 years related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience * High school diploma or equivalent * 3 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Able to understand, interpret, communicate, and execute with exactness instructions given in both verbal and written form * Bi-lingual Spanish a plus * Able to recognize potentially hazardous situations, understanding instructions given by supervisor, possess common sense * Ability to deal with mechanical problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations * Possession of valid Driverâs License; prefer Class A or Class B CDL or the ability to obtain such a license within the new employee evaluation period (180 days) with driving record that meets company requirements in order to retrieve or test drive company commercial vehicles * Forklift certified or willing to obtain * TWIC preferred or willing to obtain Working Conditions * Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time Physical Requirements * Walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree * Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors * Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree * Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. * Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors Legal Notices CEMEX is an EEO/AA (equal opportunity/affirmative action) institution and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital or familial status, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by under federal, state or local law in the programs or activities which it operates.     Job Description Road Mechanic position is responsible for maintenance and repairs of on and offroad equipment and out on crew jobsites daily with occasional travel to the shop or office. Responsibilities Inspect and repair company equipment such as pickups, line trucks, trailers, excavators, compressors, boring rigs, off road tracked vehicles, etc. in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner Preform Road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality repairs and services Place orders for required parts materials and supplies as needed Prepare and maintain records and reports as required Maintain tools, supplies, workstations in a clean, safe, and presentable manner Provide support for fellow mechanics on a as needed basis Complete DOT inspections Ability to complete Tune-ups, Brake jobs (hydraulic and Air) Basic Wiring Ability to Safely use Cutting Torch and Basic Welding Skills Ability to work alone and unsupervised Perform other duties as requested or assigned by Lead, Maintenance Coordinator, and Fleet Manager Physical Aspects: The physical demands described here are typical of those that must be met by a team-member to successfully perform the essential functions of their job in powerline construction. While performing the duties of this job, team-members are regularly required to talk or listen. The team-member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms. The team-member is frequently required to perform rigorous physical labor; sit; climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.); or balance; and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. Team-members frequently lift or move up to or in-excess of 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, team-members may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Team-members are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Powerline construction work is performed outside and is subject to diverse weather conditions. Competencies: Team-Oriented Self-Motivated Customer Service Focused Ethical and Honest Dutifully follows established Safety Rules and Company Policy Required Qualifications MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record Minimum of 3 years' experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs or closely related field Basic Diesel and drivetrain experience Basic hydraulic knowledge Knowledge of Heavy equipment repairs Proficient in reading and understanding scan tool Knowledge of safety Procedures and Guidelines Knowledge of Heavy equipment repairs Flexible work schedule: 7:00 am -5:00 pm M-F, occasional late nights, early mornings, and weekends Preferred Qualifications 5 or more years' experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs or closely related field CDL Class A License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire Specific training/certifications (ASE, ALTEC, TEREX, ECT) Special Position Requirements This is position and all applicable policies including drug testing and background checks will apply.
