We're seeking a reliable and safety-focused Laborer / Serviceman to support maintenance and production activities across our plant. This entry-level role is critical to keeping operations running efficiently through hands-on work, cleanup, and maintenance tasks.
Job Responsibilities
WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO
As a Laborer / Serviceman at Cemex, your daily responsibilities will include:
* Safety Compliance: Follow all safety rules, wear PPE, and report equipment or safety concerns.
* Physical Tasks: Perform trenching, digging, backfilling, shoveling, sweeping, and cleanup work.
* Facility Support: Assist with maintenance work, concrete form building, painting, and general housekeeping.
* Equipment Maintenance: Lubricate and oil equipment; support maintenance teams and respond to callouts.
* Training & Participation: Attend meetings and training sessions. Support other classifications and plant outage work.
* Additional Duties: Complete any tasks assigned by management to support plant operations.

* Educational and Licensing Requirements: A high school diploma or GED is required.
* Experience: Four years of general plant experience or six years of cement plant experience if joining from outside the company.
* Skills: Proficiency in control systems and computer applications; strong communication skills; mechanical aptitude and ability to read diagrams; mathematical ability related to production measurements; strong decision-making and safety awareness.

* Safety First: Must comply with all safety standards and always wear appropriate PPE.
* Dynamic Environment: Work in outdoor and indoor environments, with exposure to physical labor and harsh conditions (extreme heat, humidity, extreme cold, noise, dust).
* Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50lbs frequently, 20lbs. constantly), climbing, standing, shoveling, walking, pushing, pulling, and operating tools and mobile equipment to a significant degree in physically intense settings. Must be physically able to perform all essential job functions, including the ability to communicate verbally using a phone and radio, to hear verbal commands and audible alarms in order to safely operate around large mobile equipment and automatic conveyor belt systems. Must be able to pass a physical exam to include back x-ray, vision test, hearing test, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test and drug / alcohol screen.
* Work Schedule: Employees are expected to work varying shifts as needed, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.
* Work Location: This position is required to be performed in person at the assigned worksite. Remote work is not available for this role.

Job Summary

About the Role:
Actively support and adhere to the company's health & safety, quality and environmental compliance programs.
Manage projects through all phases and associated Rinker departments.
Estimates sales costs for manufacturing of products, sales projects, or services requested to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service.

Process change orders and mitigate all costs where possible recognizing production schedule constraints.
Knowing the schedule for all phases of the project and making sure the customer's and production needs are being met at all times, notify sales/customer/production immediately of delays.

* Responds to emergency call outs on an as needed basis.
* Inspects plant equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc.
* Lubricates equipment.
* Effective execution of the overhaul outage plan.
* Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
* Works out of crane basket and man-lift.
* Performs preventive and predictive maintenance.
Qualifications
* Must have understanding of plant flow and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
* Must be able to do necessary lubrication, using proper lubricants and make minor repairs and adjustments
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to operate heavy equipment.
* Ability to read, write and communicate clearly.
* Ability to comply with all MSHA & CEMEX safety regulations and able to utilize all required PPE.
Working Conditions
Must be able to work in high levels of heat, cold, dust, height & noise.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to lift up to 25lbs frequently - 50-100lbs occasionally, climb stairs, and ladders.
* Ability to work in maritime and confined space environments. Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb and crouch for extended periods.
* Ability to work around electromagnetic fields generated by motors.
